Q: iphone 4 Mail messages (no sender) no subject

My inbox has four mysterious messages that I can't delete. They all say

(No Sender)
(No Subject)
This message has no content

Date: 12-31-69

can't open or delete any of them. These messages are not on my mobileme cloud.

Thanks for the help. Chad

I was horrified to read all the crazy things people had to do to fix this.  Got my first "No Sender" mail last night.  Turned off my Iphone 5S, turned it back on a few minutes later and the problem was fixed.

I tried EVERYTHING in this thread over the last few years. Nothing worked, I had to keep restarting the mail app to get the real mails isntead of the no sender ones. I even had another phone after my 5s. Now that I bought the 6 I had the same problem again. And this solution helped! I finally works! This way the contacts from your gmail are not included in the mailaccouont. Just add those seperately by creating a contacts account, use carddav, server gmall.com and your username and pw.

Thanks, finally I can use a very basic smartphone function (email) without issues!

This is the one solution that has worked for me (iphone6, iOs8) Everything else is a temporary workaround and wont help sustainably.

    Thank you, lots. MC

TeddyStahl, recreating the account as Other instead of Gmail did the trick!

    At least for now :-)

    Thanks so much!

WWorked a treat - straight away.  THANK YOU

went to settings, mail, selected the affected account, turned the mail slider to off.   Opened mail to check and account didn't show.  Slid slider back to,on, went to mail and bogus message was gone.

I did what you said, I shut off my phone & put it on again, & it works. Actually I have the iPhone 6 plus. Thank you
