Anyone else having the same message pop up repeatedly?
Immediately after activating my phone and restoring my data, this message starts popping up for no reason I can identify.

No audio from iTunes, video files, or applications coming from the bottom speakers (only available via headphones).

Ringtone, alarms, and regular speakerphone work without any problem.

Never plugged into an accessory device and bluetooth has remained off since delivery...

It's madness...or perhaps a spooky ghost device haunting my new iPhone 4...

iPhone 4, iOS 4

Have you tried a hard reset? Hold the Sleep and Home buttons down simultaneously for 8-10 seconds until the white Apple logo appears. Recheck after the phone starts up to see if the problem has been cleared.

Tried a hard reset and reinstall & restore.

I think my iPhone may be hallucinating

I am having the same popup problem. Hard reset not successful, will try a full restore and post results. Aide note: I just bought two iPhone 4s, 16gb = no problems. 32gb = popup problem

After calling technical support, I was instructed to plug-in and unplug my Apple headphones 10-12 times. The thought is that some devices come from the factory in "headset" mode despite not being connected to headsets.

This did not work for me and the problems continue, though maybe it will work for you. If not, you're one step closer to getting a repair/replacement when you get technical support on the line.

My Iphone 3GS is doing the same thing... this was either caused by OS4 or a new Ipod speaker dock I put my phone in..

anyways no sound.. thing is I can get the sound to come back when I plug in the USB connector cable at the bottom and unplug it, but then the message pops up and all audio disappears (unless headphones)..

Well, I updated the day it was allowed on my 32gig 3Gs and it has worked fine, until today, now I cant do anything on my phone because that message is popping up every friggin 5 seconds and nothing is plugged in. I tried the plugging in my headphones repeatedly which of course did not work.

I've had the same problem for a week with my 3GS. It started while I was still using OS3 but even with iOS4 installed I'm still randomly getting the 'accessory not optimized' message!? Let's hope for a definitive solution.

I'm getting this error message repeatedly when I plug the iPhone into the USB port on my 2009 Chevy Malibu. Before the OS 4 upgrade, I'd get a similar message once, which I would dismiss. Now, after I dismiss it, it keeps coming back over and over, which is very annoying. I can't find any settings to turn this off.

I am getting the message with my 2009 Honda CR-V when I plug it in to the usb. So annoying. I upgraded my iPhone 3g two days ago.

Yesterday I called Honda USA and was told that the firmware will need to be updated in my car. They, however, could not tell me when that would be happening, only that it might take some months. I am supposed to harass my local Honda dealer regularly (meaning, call them every week or so) because they will know when they'll get it in.

So I guess my old iPod is going to be put back into service. It plays nice with my Honda...

Just to update my situation, I spoke with Apple support and was told to restore to factory settings, then choose restore from backup, I did this and I'm still getting these annoying pop ups. When I tried calling back they were closed, so I guess I'll have to wait until next week to try calling again.
