Q: Iphone 3G slow after update to IOS4

The upgrade to IOS4 took forever but eventualy was completed succesfully.
But the iphone is very slow with IOS4. It doesn't work as smooth as it used to be. Also new applications such as the iBook application are very slow, doesn't respond smooth on screentaps etc. Who has the same experience?
I'm thinking about going back to version 3.1.3 because IOS4 doesn't add anything to improve the user experience on the iPhone 3G.

I hope Apple will listen to their iphone users and will release an update soon for iOS4 which improves the performance on older iPhones.

Iphone 3G, iOS 4

Well now Apple has its proud product to against Vista I guess. The OS 4 upgrade should not even be recommended and they should be suggesting ways for getting my phone back from its deathbed, its well nigh unusable and its drinking more power, though for what I'm not exactly sure as it appears be giving nothing back.

I'm not buying another Apple product until I see how they fix this and one may its already too late. Hello Android, how are you? My Name is.......

So Apple has announced that iOS4.1 will likely improve issues with our 3G. I wonder how many people will risk it? I think I am going to have to. Once you hit rock bottom, the only way is up.

You first then! I'm going to wait and see. It's running so well on 3.1.3 now.

I'm going to try it because my phone is horrible that the way it runs now.

Question is when 4.1 will be released to everyone. It's already September and my phone is still messed up. I will try anything as it can't get any worse than what it is now. 3.1.3 people should just avoid anymore updates.

This morning, in his keynote, Steve said 4.1 will be released "next week." He mentioned that the "bugs" in the current software with the 3G phone is one of the main things he gets emails about.

Steve Jobs and Apple computer engineers
don't have time to fix software problems, they are too busy
    counting money.

If the problems Apple has caused with the 3G upgrade is not enough now they have added insult to the injury for loyal Apple customers. Today I find out my $300 Apple TV I recently purchased will not be supported with the new software or upgrades. Now I have two expensive Apple products that are useless. I've had it with Apple.

I believe I read that "next week" will be when the software is released.

Agree with you on people still using 3.13 - Don't upgrade yet.

Sj and apple engineers are not listening, they are counting
    their money in their underwear.

It is what Apple does best. Release a software
update to disable 2 million phones that cannot support
it, (planned obsolescence), then count money in thir underwear
in Cupertino, while they laugh at all of the mice
scrambling to fix the problem by buying the latest
technology that works with the new software.
Come on people, can't you see what is happening here.

I really hope this 3G-iOS 4 isn't a typical Apple "planned obsolescence" move. If 4.1 comes out and my iPhone 3G still performs this badly the only way up that I can reasonably accept is selling my 3G and buying a new phone that is not made by Apple.

this is affecting almost all 3G users - I was out last night @ an annual football pool and every 3G user (including myself) in the room are having the same issues. the phone has slowed so much several applications are now useless and everything from sending texts to receiving calls has dramatically slowed.

the ONLY way Apple will respond is if enough media gets involved the stock starts to react negatively so instead of wasting your time on this blog email/call/write your local (preferably national) journalists to start writing on the subject. eventually the business journalists will catch on and that may get Apple's attention...
