Sep 3, 2010 9:48 AM in response to Thal3sby IrishLassie1,I'm also sick and tired of waiting for Apple to come up with a fix!!! So, here's what I recommend... call the Apple Technical Support number everyday and ask when this will be fixed: 800/694-7466. If we all call everyday, perhaps they'll get the message and do something!! I refuse to buy the new IPhone so if Apple is hoping all their unhappy customers will just go out and buy the I4, they'll be surprised at how many customers they lose.
_You don't need the Apple Protection Plan to call about problems with the 3G update to IOS4. They will speak with you since the 3G problem is due to their software._ I called them today and got the same answer as before... they're working on a fix but can't give a date, however, she did say that when they come out with a new ITunes update, which they just did, ITunes10, that typically precedes an IPhone update. +It's possible it will be the update we are waiting for.+ *Perhaps that's a tiny bit of hopeful news.*
Regardless, I suggest everyone *CALL, CALL CALL!!! 800/694-7466* -
Sep 3, 2010 10:06 AM in response to Xplorer77by IrishLassie1,Okay, I just read on the web about Apple's announcement of IOS 4.1 to be released next week. This update is supposed to fix the 3G bugs. So why, when I just spoke with Apple Technical Support, didn't she tell me that? She obviously didn't have a clue either. Goodness gracious, I hope that level of knowledge from the Apple people isn't indicative of what we'll get with the update!! -
Sep 3, 2010 10:08 AM in response to IrishLassie1by Bugfixer,Is anybody here who's reading the NEWS? Would you please be aware that NEXT WEEK the 4.1 update will be released officially and Jobs told to the world that it will contain a FIX for all the 3G issues?
Would you please STOP yelling around? I'm not happy, too, but when I knew that the next week we'll have a fix, I calmed down. So come on!
Please read the news before you launch yourself in a unuseful message! -
Sep 3, 2010 10:22 AM in response to Bugfixerby blinking,You've previously written that "Steve Jobs has said next week 4.1 release will fix all the 3G "bugs" affecting the phone speed" [2 days ago on the thread 'IOS 4.1 coming next week']. When you wrote it I pointed out that in fact Jobs' exact words about 4.1 were "We've fixed a lot of bugs, proximity, Bluetooth, iPhone 3G" - he has not, to my knowledge at least, ever said that 4.1 will fix "all" the 3G bugs.
As you're repeating the same statement again, I'm repeating the same response again.
Let's not get our hopes up too high. -
Sep 3, 2010 10:30 AM in response to Bugfixerby Momemor,C'mon, Bugfixer, what would be of the user forums without a little yelling around here and there?
Besides, this is the most impressive complaint thread I have ever seen. Keep it up, everyone!! -

Sep 3, 2010 10:45 AM in response to Momemorby Bugfixer,Momemor, you're right. What I was underlining is that a lot of people are still talking about the unknown date of the release "Who knows when!"... Well, we know now.
Be sure that if the issues will not be fixed, I'll be the first to make my positions hard to Apple; and I'll go back to 3.1.3, indeed.
But I want to be positive. Jobs told us in July (June??) that Apple was working on a fix. Well, now the developers say the fix are working for 3G, so I think we've just to wait.

Sep 3, 2010 10:50 AM in response to blinkingby Bugfixer,As I previously said, I'm positive. And I'm sorry if I've been not so accurate, but I've seen the live cast only once, and my mother tongue is not English.
And again, if 4.1 won't work for my phone, I'll be the first to call Apple.
All the best for you and your 3G phones. -
Sep 3, 2010 11:21 AM in response to Bugfixerby MannyRios,Hello,
I spoke with At&t & they recommended, for free, a new SIM card. No guarantees, but I'm headed to the local retail store.
Let's hope the new SIM card & plus the upcoming IOS update helps! -
Sep 3, 2010 11:33 AM in response to MannyRiosby Christopher John Hunter,AD won't let me send a blank message - not that I'd want to, but it won't let me not-send it & delete it either, so ... what should I say - hmmm, our MBPro won't start-up, so we've booked an appointment at the Genius Bar in-town on Tuesday, and they'll no-doubt have a nice iPhone 4 on-show ... will we be able to resist at least touching it ?

Sep 3, 2010 12:58 PM in response to MannyRiosby kenju4u,That's not going to help at all! The problem is not with the SIM or anything else but the OS that Crapple has put out!
If my phone doesn't get fixed with 4.1 I am NEVER buying any Apple products again. -
Sep 3, 2010 1:24 PM in response to Xplorer77by n3nto,Giz made a video of IOS4.1 on Iphone 3G and compared it to IOS4.0
http://gizmodo.com/5629617/iphone-3g-speed-test-ios-40-versus-ios-41
By the look of it IT AINT that much faster and no where near as fast as IOS3.1
After waiting for such a long time I hope they are wrong and that it IS much faster than they say it is or we will be having the same problems/issues all over again. -

Interesting that they say it's a 3G phone, but the opening type says 3GS. They need to do that test with one running 3.1.3 to get a real comparison. -
Sep 3, 2010 10:54 PM in response to IrishLassie1by T_Bro54,I agree with flooded Apple's tech support resources with questions about fixing this problem.
Call them, write them, daily! -
Sep 3, 2010 11:34 PM in response to krischeljby richardc1983,Your wrong this video with the new 4.1 developers version states:
Test results:
* Messages: iOS 4.1 Wins (By a Little)
* Maps: iOS 4.1 Wins (By a Lot)
* Photos: iOS 4.1 Wins (Just Barely)
* Safari: iOS 4.1 Wins (Just Barely)
http://www.redmondpie.com/iphone-3g-performance-test-ios-4.0-vs-ios-4.1-video/
SO its barely done anything to speed it up so it isnt going to be nice and snappy!
I am just going to downgrade back to version 3.
