    LOL... talk about forced upgrade scheme. People upgrading to IOS4 are unaware of the slow as molasses results. There should be a warning that IOS 4 will significantly slow down your 3G. Instead we get the "some features not available" message.

    Great features, including the one that takes 30 seconds to just type 6 characters for text messaging. Nice.

    I'm sorry, I didn't get a chance to read all 53,000 posts on this subject, but does anyone know when Apple is coming out with a patch or update to fix this horrible mess. I loved my 3G iPhone the way it was... it actually worked!
    In the future, I will wait to read the forum before I update my iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

    On a whim, I tried the "reset all settings" trick and it seems to have sped up my iphone 3g with iOS4. Yes, I waited a couple of days and monitored things before I posted this. Yes, I tried the double reboot with no considerable improvement. For me the reset all settings trick seems to have helped.

    Well, 242 replies so far, not solved.

    So the question is: WHEN will Apple release an official rollback for all iPhone 3G users to OS3. This is no support at all, it feels like I've just received a Microsoft product, that is released as final, but really is beta. Well in this case, OS4 shouldn't have been released at all for the iPhone 3GS it's so unstable.

    Since this problem still isn't solved.

    Same here, everything is slower, I think apple is doing it to make us upgrade to 3gs or 4.
    Is there an Apple approved way of downgrading back to the old OS?
    My wife hates it and so do I...

    I can confirm this issue as per the other posts. My iPhone is also crawling after the upgrade.

    I don't want to believe all the trash talk about the Apple mob coercing us into upgrading by "crippling" our phones. Surely this can't be a difficult problem to solve - just let us roll back to the old version until a technical fix is found or we choose to upgrade at our own pace?

    Apple please help!

    The first thing that needs to happen is Apple admitting there is a problem. We all know that this will likely take a while. When all hope is lost a mysterious 4.01 or 4.1 update will appear. I'm not holding my breath, but it will likely happen after I've made the upgrade to the iPhone 4!

    Apple doesn't follow these forums. Please send your response to them as formal feedback. If the 50,000+ people who have viewed this thread had reported the problems they are having, it would be clear to Apple that there is a growing tsunami of customer dissatisfaction heaading their way.

    Apple really needs to address this issue. My phone is just over a year old and it since the upgrade to iOS4 it is working like a frikkin' Windows Mobile phone. Same slow reactiontime, slow apps.

    It's atrocious and I expected better from them.

    It's a sad commentary. I agree with you 100%. I wish I had the opportunity to simply replace my 3G with an iPhone 4. Unfortunately, I have over a year left on my contract, and my service provider doesn't even offer the new phone yet.

    I'm pretty sure all of you getting angry about iOS4 slowness on your 3G would have been equally annoyed if Apple hadn't made iOS4 available to the 3G. There would have been loads of comments about "forcing us to upgrade to iPhone 4" just like there are because it's slow.

    Apple are damned if they do, damned if they don't. Personally I've noticed my 3G running slightly slower since iOS4, but I'm still glad I upgraded. I'm pretty sure most of the slowness issues will be sorted with 4.01 or whatever the next release is.

    same problem here. reloaded os 3 on my 3G (as described on previous posts). After being an Apple user since '84 it is very disappointing to have them leave us behind as "legacy" products less than 2 years after selling us the product. My ATT contract runs out in August and I was really hoping for iPhone 4 on Verizon. Now they have screwed up my 3G with an "Upgrade" that requires about 6 hours of my time to remove using 3rd party software. Way to go Steve.

    I thought I was going nuts until I asked "Uncle Google" about "iphone 3g slow after ios4 upgrade." Anyway, add a "me too" to the list; and a software upgrade essentially forcing a hardware upgrade?!? ... That's just NOT RIGHT; if this has not been resolved when my contract is up (very soon), I'll be upgrading both my provider (bye-bye AT&T) and phone (bye-bye iPhone), it's been real...
