Aug 2, 2010 2:22 AM in response to Xplorer77by djlonboy,Yep, need to add my voice to this unbelievably long thread (49 pages! WAKE UP APPLE!).
My 3G is completely USELESS now. Text messaging takes about 15 seconds to open and I can type two whole line of text before the phone catches up with me.
Safari is so slow I may as well be using handwritten letters.
All the apps crash regularly (the most recent being the text messaging so I now have a half sent message stuck on the screen when it opens).
Battery life is half what it used to be.
Can't answer calls for ages when they start ringing, and when I do answer often no-one on the other end can hear me for about 5 seconds.
The map application is completely unuasable due to about 2 minute lag time
This is complete and utter BULLS**T! I didn't want a software upgrade! My phone worked perfectly before this, and now the only thing its good for is beating Steve Jobs over the head with.
IS ANYONE FROM APPLE ACTUALLY LISTENING!? Sort it out for *k sake! -
Aug 2, 2010 4:18 AM in response to djlonboyby oliver_macuser,*Stutters, shakes, SLOWLY*
moin moin,
iPhone OS 3.0 since slower, has already been renewed, but without success.
With iOS 4.0 no longer be used as a phone! The wiping and dragging the screen or in the
Settings, calendar, contacts jerk such inputs need seconds, an absurdity!
Also tips on how to "speak to disable" only brings in a 3.1.3 -> 1a <- improvement.
If controls do not respond and it takes several seconds, it reminds me of our old old
Mobile phones which belonged to it. But on an iPhone is the be!
The problems are the same as for the restoration of connection with a MobileMe account network. After Tips it's the search function which will only be fed. Is actually understandable, but also
stutters after a few days and a few iPhone App's the only way before them. The best way you can see it when the Screen wipe is not running smoothly but jerks.
Had my 3G back from iOS 4.01 to 3.1.3.
A tip to 3.1.3 is yes and it works okay (yet), but the developers are encouraged App's only
to develop under iOS 4th Everything else you can imagine, yes.

PS: Our other 3G running 4.0.1 iOS super.

*STOTTERT, RUCKELT, LANGSAM, EIN UNDING*
moin moin,

PS: Auf unserem anderen 3GS läuft iOS 4.0.1 super.

Aug 2, 2010 4:28 AM in response to oliver_macuserby scott.dunbar,I tried deselecting all the search options as outlined below, while it made a difference, it was only as much as you'd expect when you switch of a near useless memorey draining function. Sadly my phone is still pretty much unusable!

Aug 2, 2010 4:33 AM in response to Xplorer77by ricmra,Apple please provide a downgrade for previous version, i have a useless phone in my desk at the moment, i can't believe this is happening. -
Aug 2, 2010 4:58 AM in response to Xplorer77by Linkeex,Thank you Apple for making my iPhone unusable!
Since I updated to ios4 it is so ridiculous slow. Everytime i want to load the "settings" it takes about 20 secs. I can't even enter some letters. Even this is takes a long and laggy time.
Give us iPhone 3g and iPod 2nd Generation users a chance to downgrade to 3.x and give us the opertunity to use 3.x products (apps), because they also do not work with an non updated phone. -
Aug 2, 2010 5:23 AM in response to Xplorer77by Scott Shaw,I just have to add my $0.02 here. My iPhone 3G has become a source extreme pain and frustration after upgrading to IOS 4. I can't believe Apple would release something this bad. I have been a loyal customer for so long and it feels like Apple has just abandoned me to roll out the new products. I was planning on getting an iPhone 4 this week but will probably go for an Android phone instead. -
Aug 2, 2010 6:45 AM in response to Xplorer77by RenaudDetry,Hi,
In addition to disabling Spotlight, it seems that limiting the number of messages in mail greatly helps. I previously had my phone setup to hold 200 messages for each of my 4 accounts. Removing one account and limiting the number of stored messages to 25 made a huge difference. -
Aug 2, 2010 6:56 AM in response to RenaudDetryby rodmanboyd,All this sounds extremely familiar to me!
Apple - fix this now! -
Aug 2, 2010 6:59 AM in response to Xplorer77by andycjb,Been having problems with my IPhone 3G ever since i updated the software and finally went into the store today to speak with someone.
Firstly, i was told that the software isn't for the iphone 3G and that it says this in the small print - my question then is why does it prompt you to install the new software?! surely apple are clever enough to make sure it doesn't install new software on phones that are not compatible!?
Second, once I spoke to someone else he advised that it was a common problem and as yet they haven't got a solution?!
So i am just meant to carry on with a substandard product that is continually dropping calls, not allowing me to hang up calls, behaving really slow and interfering with my business?!
They told me a phone restore would help and sent me away, Ive done this twice now and it didn't and it is still playing up. Dont waste your time if they have told you to do that. It doesn't work.
Usually you get great service from apple but they have really dropped the ball... why would they allow for a software update to 3G phones if it slows it down and messes up your product?!
I am up for a renewal in my contract next month and was going to get the new iphone 4 despite the problems with that but may now opt for a Blackberry... NEVER thought i would say that again!
At least you wont get these problems with now solutions being offered besides a response like 'we are aware of it but cant do anything yet!!' -

This is not true unless they added it recently. I looked when iOS4 was released and except for saying what wouldn't work on certain devices, there was nothing that said it wasn't made for those devices. Here lies the problem when a bug like this is not addressed precisely and timely on a corporate level. Even the employees have different answers because they haven't been told anything that would help customers. They're just winging it or denying it. -
Aug 2, 2010 7:59 AM in response to djlonboyby kissesmom, add me to the list. I have had this phone less than 5 months. I want my %$$$ back Apple! -

Aug 2, 2010 8:30 AM in response to Xplorer77by cola79,My iPhone 3G with iOS 4.0.0:
Are these times considered slow?
Messages: opens in 4 seconds
Pandora: on 3G begins playing music in 11 seconds
Mail: opens almost instantly, less than one second.
Facebook: opens in 4 seconds
Camera: ready to take a picture in 3 seconds
These times were recorded AFTER opening the program one or two times. It is NOT the time for the initial launch.
