Pioneer avic d3 bluetooth

Hi all, I just received my iphone 4 to replace my 3G I paired it to my D3 and no one can understand me (explained to me as I sound underwater), audio is perfect on my end. I had no problems with my 3G. I tried turning off echo cancel on the Pioneer with no improvement. I deleted and re paired with no improvement. I also paired the phone with a headset and it works perfect so it seems the phone is o.k. Are there any other settings or things that I can try???

I'm having the same exact problem too right now, and its annoying.

I have a AVIC-D3 with the CD-BTB100 bluetooth module, and trying to have both my iPhone 4 and that system to automatically pair with each other when I turn on the car is not happening anymore.

I have to manually pair the phone and the system by going through the long method of going to Settings > General > Bluetooth > Click on the Device (Pioneer BT Unit2) and then reentering the pin... ever single time.

This was never the case with my iPhone 3G with the iOS4 software.

I'm hoping there is a way to fix this now or to be fixed on a future update.

Just noticed this myself... I have the same setup in my car and the iPhone 4 is not auto-pairing with it. I am really upset, because the main benefit to having bluetooth in your car is the auto-connect: get in the car, and you are good to go. Extremely annoyed.

Same problem every time I get a new iPhone it gets worse have the time it won't even recognize the phone still no address import and no video I think it's going to be up to the iPad and a good amp oh wait threes not an app for that ! Yet

I thought I was losing my mind! Mine won't automatically pair either. Here's our situation:

Car 1 w/ Avic Z2: Wife's iPhone 4 automatically pairs
Car 2 w/ Avic D3: My iPhone 4 DOES NOT automatically pair

I set up both cars the exact same. For some odd reason, the D3 no longer pairs automatically...yet the Z2 does. Hopefully someone can figure out what's going on. I do NOT want to manually pair my phone every time I get in my car!!!!

UPDATE: I finally got my iPhone 4 to automatically pair with my D3. I ended up deleting my phone from the D3. Once that was removed, I repaired my iPhone from the D3. I shut my car off and on 4 times, and it paired automatically every time.

I'm not sure what was causing the issue...but at least it's working now.

That really worked, four times eh? I'll have to give it a shot. Been paring manually, it's getting old real quick. On a positive note, the call quality seems to have improved with the 4 (when it is connected!). Also discovered an Internet radio app called TuneIn Radio - Amazing. It's got almost every station you can think of and lets you record the streams. Think it's time for XM to go byebye (it used to be soo good before siri bought it).

Hey -

Got the exact problem described here:
1. D3 says "invalid device" and only pairs once in a while
2. There is absolutely NO WAY anyone can understand me talking. All they hear is a far away gargle....

Anyone heard about a fix, or is this a "some iphone 4" issue.....?

So I'm scrolling down this page thinking, at least it's not me but please let me find the fix. The guy w/ the on/off 4 times, I wonder if it is still working. Mine is a crapshoot everytime I go in the car. This is NOT going to work for me. Please, is there any update to this?? My issue is the same as RDBLK (are you a roulette player by chance?).

I believe that the problem may be that in some installations of the Pioneer BTB200 Bluetooth unit, the power connection is turned off with the ignition key removal. Pioneer installation instructions call for the +12 volt connection to be wired (through an appropriate fuse) to an "always on" connection to the battery. The drain on the battery is very low and should not be an issue. This should correct the problem.

My setup is an AVIC-D3 with the CD-BTB200 module and connects whenever I have the D3 turned on. And. I've turned it on over 4 times!

On a different note:

I hope that Apple can improve their Bluetooth implementation so that we all can transfer contacts. Apple will tell you to read your "other" devices mauual. Period.

Funny that I've used 4 different (non-Apple) phones with the D3 and other head units and never had a problem transferring contacts. (The phones were LG and Samsung.)

If anyone has a solution to the contact transfer problem , please share it with the group.

I am having the same problem as RDBLK. When I try to pair my iPhone 4 from my AVIC D3 I get an "Invalid Device" message. I have not yet tried time and time again so I cannot prove or disprove the theory that it "only works sometimes". This is a frustrating problem though. My Blackberry never had a problem connecting to my D3.

I solved the exact same problem. I have an iphone 4s and a Pioneer AVIC D3 and could not get this Apple phone or my last Blackberry to auto connect. I had to manually connect each time in the car. Here is the solution.

This is a two step process: 1st: Pair the phone 2nd: Register the phone.

After initially getting the phone to connect to the AVIC, you must "Register" the phone with the Pioneer unit.

Go to the Pioneer Manual and read page 106 for instruction to "Register". (Simply touch and hold the "user Phone 1" once the phone is paired)

YOU MAY BE TRYING THIS FROM THE WRONG DIRECTION. TRY PAIRING FROM THE D3 TO THE IPHONE. pfindly SEEMS TO HAVE THE RIGHT IDEA. I FOUND IT IN THE CD-BTB200 OWNER'S MANUAL. TURN THE SOURCE OFF ON THE D3. NOW YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GET INTO THE BLUETOOTH SETTINGS TO PAIR AND REGISTER. SO FAR SO GOOD.

WORKED ON MY iPHONE 4s (iOS-5.0).

My iPhone4 has not been connecting to my btb200 automicatically either while my 3gs did. ! I have been struggling with this since I got an iPhone4 and finally figured it out today.

I do not have an AVIC-D3. Instead I have a group one pioneer head unit that also uses the btb200. The key is that non-AVIC head units can only regisater one phone at a time.

How to autoconnect:

I connected the phone to the bluetooth from the iPhone's Bluetooth menu. Then I put my pioneer unit on Bluethooth for source and TEL for band. THen I cycled on the function key until I was in FUNC2. Then I pressed the up arrow/button on the head unit. A few seconds later... phone was Registered!

I turned the car off an back on... it auto connected. This is the best thing ever.
