I have only an In Box, No Sent or Trash Boxes; I show messages in my In Box but when I try to read them there is nothing there, sometimes. At other times, including the test messages I send to myself, they are there. I have a support appointment scheduled for Saturday.

Having similar issues.
I am using MobileMe and Apple iPhone 4.

I have a notification to say i have 1 email in my inbox.
Looking into it i have nothing in my inbox but when i scroll down to the bottom i have 10+ emails stating "no sender", "no subject" and sent 01/01/1970.

Although if i log onto MobileMe through the web the number of emails it is showing on my iPhone 4 is what is in my inbox.

HELP!!

I'm having a similar problem. I only sync my gmail to my phone (so I've only got one account). I go into Mail and it syncs and says I have currently, 5 unread. Two of the messages that are marked unread are items I read on my phone ten minutes ago. Three are from (No Sender), have (No Subject),have no content, and were send on 12/31/69. If I tap "update", it refreshes - still 5 unread. I just tapped refresh again, and while I still have 5 unread, the two messages I just read and kept in my inbox? Now they're also (No Sender) messages. I can't delete these or move them, either. This is really starting to drive me crazy.

Same problem here. The only mail account I have on my phone is Gmail. On a fairly regular basis, I get the "new mail" chime, and the badge on the Mail.app icon, but when I open Mail all I get is a list of "No Sender, No Content" messages that I can neither open nor delete.

Only solution I've found so far is to delete my Gmail account and re-create it, which is obviously a less-than-ideal user experience.

I'm having the same problem intermittently (Mobile Me Account). I upgraded my 16gb iPhone 3GS to iOs4 and this is when the problem started......

I had a genius bar appointment and they suggested re syncing mobile me on my iMac and deleting the account and reinstalling it on the iPhone - just done it. Fingers crossed!

I have deleted my MobileMe account and re-added it, great i get the current emails back, all other emails that come in are (No Sender), (No Subject) dated 01/01/1970.

In addition i thought i was being smart by removing all information from my phone to re-add it but it will now not sync my contacts so i have no numbers, calendar entries ... NOTHING.

Software update i hope is coming soon.

I have managed to get the threading to work.

If you load your account either MobileMe, GMail etc WITHOUT threading enabled your emails will come through fine, now if you enable threading once your account is loaded all features work great.

I have had multile messages with same conversation, new emails coming through for about 16 hours now with no issues.

Hope this helps!!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one facing this issue. It has been driving me nuts since updating to iOS4. While it's just about the only bug I'm regularly facing (outside of one or two in third party apps that haven't been updated yet), it is nearing the point where I can't work with my email on my phone anymore as it's so glitchy.

I, too, use Gmail only on my phone. I will try to disable and re-enable threading and see if it helps. I hope this issue is addressed via an update soon. It's rather frustrating.

I dont know what has happened or what i have done ... but ...
The issue has not gone away but mail appears to be working for more time than when it is not.
Threading has started to work, but every so often i am still getting the (No Sender), No Subject, 01/01/1970 but it is workable as a few hours later it is normal again.

And i am not turning the phone on or off!!

Same issue here. Mail icons shows unread, but the messages do not show up in the inbox. Also getting the 1970 emails. Sitting here, the messages show up (phone is connected to the computer but "sync mail" is unchecked. System configured to sync only from MobileMe.

Also have an issue of iPhone not getting my safari bookmarks even though MobileMe is configured to sync them.

I have the exact same problem and its REALLY FRUSTRATING! I saw an apple genius yesterday and they explained it is a bug and the only way to get around it is to go into each folder i have set up in my mailbox (Trash and any others you have set up) and download all of the messages onto the iPhone. This works buts its still annoying that every time i want to check an email I have to make sure all the folders have downloaded the messages into each of the folders i have set up.

So for example if I drop an email into my saved folder on my mac, when I come to my iPhone i cant see the new message that’s arrived until i go into the saved folder on my iphone and download that message that I moved there on my mac...

Sort this out Apple - its a very frustrating bug!!!
