How do you shut down apps (is there an app killer app)

I just got the iphone 4 and the battery is hurting. I think its bc so many apps are running? How to I shut down an app when I am done? Is there an app killer app (shuts down all apps) Thanks!

the apps that you see in the app switcher are not really "still running" in the background. Think of it as a "Recently Used Apps" dock. Do remove them, press and hold them until some red badges appear on them, then remove them one by one.

With something like Pandora, if you are playing music in it and click the Home button, or switch to a different app, the App itself has it's state saved to Flash Memory. The music will continue to play, and when you go back to Pandora, it will restore the state it was in when you left it. If you listened to multiple songs before switching back to it, the app will reflect the changes that happened while it was in the background.
