iphone movies on youtube

OK so I got my iPhone 4 today a went to take the camera out for a spin.
took some pics and some very nice(quality maybe not content) HD video
I got imovie for iPhone, edited together a nice vid, exported in 720p then uploaded to youtube, try to play it on my iPhone - "this video does not currently support iPhone" ***
i go back and export in 360p and try again - "this video does not currently support iphone" same goes for my iPad.

Will youtube automatically convert it to iPhone friendly, I just need to give it some time or do I have to export vid, transfer to comp, convert to say h.264 and then upload? which would kinda defect the point of having youtube upload on the iphone4

Hey guys- I have the ANSWER here....Trust me- it took the better half of the last 2 days to figure out, and I tried everything- even went to Apple Store and asked the guys there- they couldnt figure out why....Here's what you do...IF you have a Mac... the same programs....

You need to plug in iPhone 4 to your computer, then dowload into iPhoto first- as a movie...
THEN you need to export to iMovie
THEN you need to upload it to you YouTube. It will (finally) give you an option to upload in HD- any other way simply doesn't work, and I've tried ALL of the following options as well- without success..
Hope this helps...

Things that DIDNT work...(Apple if you are listening, your iMovie App does NOT convert it into 720)
Tried emailing the HD video to myself then uploading it to YouTube manually- it didn't show up in HD
Tried uploading the HD video directly to Youtube via the iPhone4- didn't work
Downloaded video into iMovie, optimized, but it wouldn't let me upload HD into Youtube.
Even tried the iMovie app for the iPhone4, exporting it as an HD (720p) movie, putting in camera roll, THEN uploading to YouTube. Didn't work.
Waited a day to see if it was just a processing delay for YouTube- no luck
Tried doing all of these things in the Apple Store WITH two Apple guys right next to me- didn't work
Also tried doing the same things with a different iPhone 4- didn't work..

Helpful stuff.

One thing that surprised me was that if you use the iPhone iMovie APP, you can't upload 720p to YouTube!

Also, the fact that iMovie just doesn't RECOGNIZE the iPhone as an input device is CRAZY.

I've been using Aperture to import my movies, and then dragging them to my desktop, and THEN using iMovie.

Although, I have Final Cut... and maybe should be using that, but it seems like using a nuclear bomb to kill a mosquito. If you know what I mean.

Also, I've had problems with iMovie DOWNSAMPLING my movies somehow. ...still need to figure what's going on w/ that. = annoying.

When you upload video from your iPhone to YouTube is down-converts it before uploading, you wont get HD. If you copy the video to your PC and upload it to YouTube it will play in HD on the PC. I, and maybe the original poster, are not able to play these movies on our iPhones from the YouTube iPhone App. I can play it just fine on my PC and Mac, but when I try to play it from YouTube on my iPhone is says "YouTube Not Available". (I made sure I had it set to allow syndication on other devices.)
