The sort of error you're getting is generally caused by underlying problems on the PC that can also prevent Windows Updates from installing. So my main strategy with them is to try to fix the Windows Update issues. If we can get updates working again, that generally fixes the iTunes install issues en passant.

Head into your Windows Update and open your Update History. Are a lot of recent failed updates showing up in the list? If so, doubleclick on the failures and check for the alphanumeric error code in the small box that comes up.

Are the alphanumeric error codes showing up in there predominantly 8007000b ? (That seems to be the case with a number of 0x800736B3 iTunes install errors.) Or are you getting different codes? If it's different codes, can you let us know what codes you're getting, please?

Many thanks. Quite often with the 0x800736B3 on the iTunes install, there seems to be an 0x8007000b in play for Windows Update.

Let's try the following document first:

[Windows Update error 8007000b|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error- 8007000b]

Next head to Windows Update and try stocking back on Windows Updates again. If you're a long way behind (sometimes this has been going on for months for people), you may need to do it in several batches. Basically, keep going back to Windows Update until it stops offering you new updates.

After you're stocked back up on Windows Updates, try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

(If you can't get Windows Updates to install, post back to let us know the error codes you've been getting on the most recent attempts at updates. Sometimes things are in such a snarl that we have to try a few different measures with them.)
