HELP :( iPhone stuck in iTunes plugin screen

Okay so this all started with just wanting to get the software update and of course I found a way to get it screwed up.

So I plugged in the phone and was downloading the update, and for some reason it said preparing for restore which was odd.

And then somehow someway it got unplugged and is now stuck on the plug into iTunes screen. It is plugged in to iTunes but isn't being detected.

I asked a friend for help and he said to put it into DFU mode which it doesn't even do. No matter what it keeps going back in to the iTunes plug in screen.

I really need my phone working by tomorrow and this is ridiculously inconvenient, so if anyone could help I would more than appreciate it.
