Has anyone experienced any numbness in their hand after holding the phone?

OMG! What next? Next thing we are going to hear is that LED camera flash is causing blindness! Holding any small object in the air for long periods of time can cause numbness in some cases with some people. It is not another defect on of the iPhone.

This sort of thing crops up every time a new phone comes out.

Warning: numbness can cause stupid people to post here.

OMG! I picked up my iPhone, now I am a numb skull!

I can see it now, class action based on numbness.

I notice tingling in my hands, but I think it's because I am so paranoid about holding in the "death grip" I tend to just use my fingers and thumb to grasp the sides.

It's not the phone, it's your ulnar nerve. Get yourself a Bluetooth.

A lifetime of working with a (land line) phone on my ear, and my holding it, has caused me many physical problems. Avoid surgery. Be kind to your elbows.

Is it maybe because you are holding the phone differently, so you don't trigger the G.O.D.?

Then, there you answered your own question!

This sounds like something you should talk to your doctor about. NOT an iPhone issue.

Update I took the phone to the apple store to have a genius look at it just to be safe and you know how the genius bar has the wood table I just set the phone on there for them to check it out and as strange as this seems the back of the phone was sticking to the table with some magnet charge it was not so much as to you not being able to pick it up it was like pulling two magnets apart that sort of thing but apple replaced it and no issues since. So I don’t think Apple is trying to screw its customers over I think these sorts of things happen? The world is not perfect but Apple has always done right by me they will replace it if any sort of issues happen. But I strongly advise you to schedule a genius appointment at your local Apple Store to have them check it out in my case there was valid truth two genius people saw and felt the same things I was talking about but they will take care of you don’t let others tell you your wrong only you know the issues your having with the phone just get a factual basis from a tech just to be safe replacing the phone ***** but its sometimes the simplest thing to do just make a backup of the phone thru iTunes before you take it to the store that way you can restore to new phone incase it get replaced good luck!

I have this same problem... I have a handsfree kit and rarely use the phone by holding it to my ear. The main numbness is in my little finger on my left hand. But it does travel up into my forearm. I find if I am holding the phone in the portrait position I rest it on my little finger. At this point my finger is on the USB charger/ connection port. I have a rubber case all the way around the antenna so it cant be that. The only thing I can think of is this port. Is it possible for a very small yet constant electric current being passed through my hand??

I bet half of this is more physiological then an actual problem. User is worried about antenna radiation thinks it will harm them and bam a symptom appears, probably nothing to worry about as others said though if you are worried about the issue see your doctor about it.

I'm going into the apple store tomorrow. See what they say about it. I didn't feel anything for the first week or so. Its got progressively worse since then. Like i said even if its a minute electric current running through my little finger then over time its got to be doing some damage???

I am definitely noticing the numbness. Some people are more sensitive to it than others.

Some people are more open to suggestion than others -- and some have more active imaginations. Take a placebo and all will be well

You think it's the antenna being to close? Some people say cell phones can be dangerous I wonder if the antenna being on the outside makes it worse?

No. The FCC tests for RF absorption in the skin and if it was putting out an amount that was considered dangerous then it would not have gotten it's FCC certification.

First it was an antenna issue and then apple solved that by giving away free cases. Now it is numbness. What will these fools think of next to try and get a total recall of the phone. Apparently you have a problem of not getting your way so you invent something new to get back at apple.
