Sending mail, iPhone always tells me I need to enter password

I'm receiving email with no problem. But every time I try to send an email from my iPhone 4 it tells me I need to enter the acct's password in the Settings section. But my passwords are already entered there. Re-entering them did no good. This is happening for all my email accounts. Any suggestions?

In email settings there is an area for incoming password and an outgoing mail server password. Your password may be missing from the outgoing mail server

I thought that might be the case so I went in and looked around for it but didn't find it. Can you give me a breadcrumb trail on how to find it?

Settings: Mail, Contacts, Calendars: Select your mail account: Select Account Info : Select Outgoing Mail Server SMTP : Select Primary Server. Your password will be in this location

Thank you! I had the same problem and this worked for my new 3GS. I just upgraded from the original iphone!
