Can't upgrade iPod Touch from 1.1.5 to 3.1.3

I've been trying to upgrade my first generation iPod Touch to 3.1.3. First I restored it, and after that was done iTunes told me that I could upgrade to 3.1.3, but that I had to upgrade iTunes to the newest version first. I upgraded to 9.2, and now it tells me that 1.1.5 is the current version, and it doesn't offer me a chance to upgrade the firmware.

I've tried this on two computers now, and restored it several times. I've also tried to reinstall iTunes, but I get the same message, that the iPod Touch is up to date.

I really need this update by tomorrow, as I'm going on a long trip, and I need the Spotify-application on it (and thus the App Store).

Thanks for answers! 🙂

Welcome to the discussions,
It won't work on your ipod, you'll need at least a 2nd generation (late 2008) ipod touch to update.
See this page: http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/ios4-software-update.html
Compatibility
The iOS 4 Software Update works with the second- and third-generation iPod touch. Not all features are compatible with all devices.
