    Add me to the list. I'm having a big problem with my cheek hitting buttons, turning on speaker, initiating facetime, dialing numbers, etc., during the middle of my calls.

    I upgraded from a 2G iPhone to the current iPhone 4.

    I am glad to see I am not going crazy. My phone does the same thing!!! People will be talking to me and then nothing. A few seconds later the sound will come back.

    Apple needs to fix ASAP. I will hold on to my 3G just in case

    Same issue here. Most annoying thing ever. Makes the phone practically useless. Hope it is fixed in 4.0.1 in the next few days/weeks...

    WOW!!! I am so glad that there are so many of us with the same problem, hopefully they will do something about it quickly! Not only is it annoying but also our battery life has to be taking a tole with the screen poping on and off so much... I have the exact same problem with hitting mute, contacts and making calls while in a call, also hitting buttons on the keypad... I also had the 3g for 2yrs and never once had this problem!... grr

    P.S.- AT&T has terrible service! (unless in a large city or on interstate other than ND, MT, SD,)

    I am so fed up with this that I'm thinking about going back to my iPhone 3G! Never had this problem in the last 2 years, now it's every call. A great product in so many ways but one that I can no longer use.

    Add me to the angry users - I cant believe Apple have not commented or even acknowledged this issue, in the UK the BBC News channels were all over the signal drop out and that forced Apple to make a comment (I must admit I am lucky enough not to hav the signal problem, I can hold my phone upside down, left right and no signal issues), but this face hange up issue is happening almost every call and is a complete pain.

    Lots of coverage on Google about this problem but no mainstream news articles are covering it, anyone want to call a few news desks? I dont want to return my iPhone 4 as I love it, I just want someone to tell me it is software and will be fixed

    Count me in too! upgraded from iPhone 3G and from day one, nothing but FRUSTRATING experience using the iphone 4. My cheek, ear keeps hitting end, or mute or speaker phone buttons.

    If they don't fix it soom, this is going back to Apple.

    Add me to the list as well. 2 years with the 3G, and never once had this problem. Now, every single call with the iPhone 4 gets muted, put on speakerphone, or hung up because of my the screen coming on when it's up against my cheek. I've heard that Apple employees at the genius bar are saying it's because of ambient light bouncing around the ear canal....however, I can reproduce this on every call in a completely pitch black room. What's the deal?!

    Spoke to Apple about this. OS issue supposedly to be resolved with the upgrade they will release (who knows when). I am using my earphones while I wait...

    I'm having the same problems. I've had every iPhone they've put out and this one has finally made me angry enough to sell it and switch to Verizon/Droid. I hate arrogance and Apple has displayed so much that the last straw has been broke. I've put people on hold, muted them, punched numbers, etc. ever since I got the iPhone 4. Add in the dropped calls (never had any with previous iterations) and I've had it.

    I'm also having this issue. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next release. Really love Apple, but there seems to be inherent issues with a lot of there products these days on release.

    I have been a DEVOTED Apple customer and user. But the company's ATTITUDE of indifference has really ticked me off. I am having this problem along with the signal problems and find no help anywhere from Apple. I have an appointment today at the local genius bar - of course the problem is not the geniuses but the BONEHEAD Steve Jobs whose arrogance is so inappropriate. Like BP, it's time to fess up Steve! Can't make a call due to low signal then when I do connect my face disconnects me!

    I didn't think this was really the big a deal when I first experienced it the other day, but now it's really ******* me off. Every single call I make I mute them and see the screen flashing on and off from the corner of my eye.

    I have been having the signal issues too but nothing serious like dropped calls or anything.

    Are these problems software related or not?? How long do uk adopters have to return their contract iphones? I got mine 4 days ago but don't want to return it if an update will fix it. If it doesn't, then it's of no use to me.

    I have to say aswell, I have been an iPhone owner since the first version and own multiple other Apple products, but if this is the way the company is headed, ignoring faults and fibbing off customers, I will never buy an apple product again.

    Apple, get this update rolled out asap and take some responsibility!!! Before you lose your fanbase!

    I had the same issue. Went to Genius bar and was told that the new proximity sensor was moved to accomodate the new front facing camera. The issue is that light gets to the sensor and that prevents it from turning the display off. I was informed that they would give me a new phone but that will NOT gaurentee a fix as they have seen a lot of phones with this issue.

    Hence, I think I will go get bigger ears to it covers the whole sensor...

    Anyway, it was suggested that I buy the apple case and that will help with not only the antenna issue but it has helped others with the sensor issue. I spent the $30 and change.

    ISSUE STILL THERE!!

    PLEASE recognize the Design flaw, fix it, and let's get on with it already!! I think overall it is still the best design and execution and I loved each generation of the iPhone to date...this one is the first one now reminding me why switched to iPhones to begin with...
