I am having this problem on my dual-core athlon, and it's a serious pain. As a software developer who deals with multi-processor issues for a living, I'm disappointed in Apple -- this is a bug, and setting the affinity every time is a hack (and not always practicable). Lots of software is able to avoid soiling itself and crashing systems (I just had a BSOD, so I'm testy at the moment -- just playing music, though Itunes thought [incorrectly] that a music CD had been inserted).
Is there any word from Apple about an
actual fix?
An acceptable alternative (though technically still a hack and a kludge) would be a way of
automatically setting the processor affinity every time Itunes runs. This would be a huge help.
Thanks,
JG
