Sleep/Wake Button Now Ends Calls?

Before if you were on a phone call using a 3G or 3GS and you were using a headset, you could press the sleep/wake button to turn off the screen so you don't accidentally tap one of the buttons. Now with the iPhone 4, if you press the sleep/wake button, you end the call. Anyone else experiencing this?

Apparently this is a known issue with the new iPhone. The auto proximity sensor was meant to take the place of manually being able to lock your phone. Either the sensor itself is faulty or the software behind it is. You can still lock your phone while using a hands free device as earlier stated. However if you have been "face dialing" more than you've been "face timing" I would talk to apple while you're still under warranty. Also I completely fail to see the usefulness of a physical end call button. Were you planning on leaving the phone on the side of your head?

I also miss this function of physically locking my screen. for whatever reason, I may not be holding the phone snuggly to my ear i suppose so that it automatically locks the screen, most my conversations are interrupted with dial tones or accidental end calls. If you guys figure out a way to restore the locking feature while on a handset call, please let us know. thanks much.
