I have one and it works fine with my iPad, my iPod Touch, and my father's iPod Touch. A couple things you will want to check is if the adapter is setup correctly with your TV. The next thing you will want to look at is the app you are using. Apps such as "videos" and "youtube" work without issue on my iPad. Some apps, such as ABC Player and Air Video will play audio out of the TV, but not video. If it is an apple application such as "Videos" or "youtube" then you might want to try a reboot and then a restore to see if that fixes your problem.

Has anyone got this set up to work yet?

I just bought the 'Official Apple Composite Cable' which according to the iPad manual it is supposed to work.

I have two iPad's and it is not working with either of the two. One with the system 3.1.2 and one with the 3.2.2.

It would be great if an Apple Genius or support staff would chime in and help us out. I've seen many posts like this with no answer yet.

If somebody has made it work, let us know.

Thank you.

Just got back from the Apple store with the Apple branded composite av cords. Same issue as everyone else - audio is fine but no video. Tried on 3 different TVs with the same result.

From what I've been reading this seems to be a problem with a LOT of people. The only solution I've read has been getting Apple to replace the cables and the replacement has worked for some people.

Super lame - feel like getting accessories to work with iPhones has become a constant headache - even when they're made by Apple and Works with iPhone.

I have had trouble with both a 3rd-party cable and Apple's cable on iPhone 3G, 4, and iPad. In every case, there is sound and no video. I'm afraid I am getting rather fed up with trying, spending more money, and trying again, not to mention time wasted. How can there be so many problems with video out on iOS devices and Apple not address them at all?

FINALLY SOLVED!

For anyone having problems with your Apple Official Composite Cable, and perhaps this would include the Apple Official Component Cable. After months of frustration over my $50 dollar cable purchase to display iPad video and photos on my TV through the RCA video input port, the problem has been solved.

I stopped last night at the Apple Store and explained:

I bought the Apple Official Composite cable. I plugged it, and it did not displayed any video, while it would play the Audio channels. I have another iPad, and the result was the same. I tried playing my videos from my iPod Touch and iPod Classic, and to my surprise, the video came through the TV. I didn't know what to make of it.

A Genius from the Genius bar, took my iPad and cable, he connected it to their TV, and ... no video, he was puzzled as well. So he said, let's try another Apple Official Composite Cable, and there it was, video came through the TV.

I am satisfied with the result. That's what I wanted out of my cable purchase, to display video from my iPad to the TV.

I would recommend that if you have same issues I had, go to an Apple Store or contact somebody to the Apple Online Store and explain that a new cable my be the solution.

Thank you.

p.s. I am happy with the problem being solved, however I am a little disappointed that it took this long to realize that it was a defective cable. Apple should acknowledge this problem in their documentation.

I have an ipod touch 3G and quite alot of movies on and I just wanted an easy and simple way to view them through my composite av tv, then I came across the apple av composite cable, witch I got for christmas. I went and connected it to the video port and the analog audio to the left and right in my cambridge audio amplifier. and the charger into the usb 'block' that came with it. it charged and transmitted audio but no video, I tried both video channels but nothing. I thought this problem might of been solved wit the new one that came out no long ago but I didn't try it. There was no third party product intervening at all. I tried the same cable on 4 different composite av tv but nothing. I tried this cable and those 4 tvs with an iphone 4, bout three quarters of the way through 2010, so quiet new, but still nothing. If you have any idea of whats going on plz tell

thanks!

I just bought the Apple Composite AV Cable at Apple's new store in Bergamo, Italy - over an hour from where I live. I explained to the guy what I wanted, we discussed options and he assured me this would work, but like so many others, I hear sound but there's no picture...

Is there no simpler way of solving the problem than driving all the way back? What about customer service???
