iphone 4 with 10.4.1
Is there any way to use itunes to access an iphone 4 when my os is 10.4.11?

Unfortunately not. The minimum operating system you can use with the new iphone is 10.5.8. I had the same problem and had to buy the Snow Leopard MacBook Set for $170 from Apple in order to be able to use my iphone 4 with my MacBook Pro. I found this out talking to an Apple tech yesterday.
