Add one more to the list. It happens frequently. Sometimes the slider will move if I move my finger very slowly, sometimes it's completely unresponsive. I've tried hitting all of the other buttons to wake it up somehow, nothing seems to work.

Same here - not on every call but often enough to be very annoying. I experienced it on my 3GS and now the same thing happens on iPhone 4 firmware 4.1 (not jailbroken, 3GS profile transferred to it).

Have the same issue with my iphone 4 from Verizon. It's happened 4 times in about 3 weeks.

It may be an IOS problem. I just had my iPhone 4 replaced. My old iPhone 4 never did this. But the replacement phone did this immediately out of the box, I didn't even get a chance to leave the mall where the Apple store was and the slider wasn't working, there were no additional Apps on the phone yet either. Also, the symtoms got worse when I updated the phone to IOS Version 4.3(8F190).

Add another one to the list. It's four days old and will not respond to around 15% of incoming calls. Come on, Apple - this one is a big problem. No matter how many aps and gimmicks you have, it must still form the basic function of a telephone...

I had the same issue as did my wife's iphone. I haven't pin pointed the issue yet so add this to the bucket of folks having this issue.

My iPhone is getting progressively worse. Has anyone heard of a fix? Very frustrating, but I can say this is re only problem I have had with my iPhone 4, 32 gig.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 4 32g.  Hope a fix comes soon!

Two iPhone 4s running 4.3.   They've begun refusing to unlock to accept incoming calls. Only happens 1 in 50 calls... But quite annoying. I don't remember having the problem in the past.

I got my iPhone 4 16 GB replaced twice for this problem, but could not get rid of it. I've been using iOS 4.3 to 4.3.2 but the problem stays, even after reboot, reset with no apps nor documents on board. It still happens up to 6 times a day and makes the phone unusable. VERY FRUSTRATING !

Having the same problem, here is what i have done chronologically to no avail-

    1. Restored the phone to factory condition, reinstalled from backup.

    2. Restored the phone to factory condition, started over as a new phone.

    3. Genius bar- found nothing wrong with phone but replaced with a brand new phone.

    4. New phone- restored from backup.

    5. New phone- restored to factory then start over as a new phone.

    Problem STILL occuring!!!!!

PS- No screen protector being used

I have the same problem, occasionally, on my 3G. A search on the web reveals similar reports on many forums. There are some supposed 'solutions' but none of them have the ring of truth to them. I guess you are just supposed to let it go and call back. I seldom have any problem sliding the slider when the phone is not ringing (and never to the extent it  when the phone is ringing).

I can't believe Apple is not out there with some sort of fix to this, which seems obviously to be a software problem. After all, it's a freaking phone! It's supposed to let you answer when someone calls.

Does anyone at Apple monitor these discussions? Is the lack of a response because Apple doesn't have one?

I have had this problem since my 3GS and now with my iPhone4. It is unbelievable that anyone (and particulartly Apple) can continue to sell a phone that will not answer some calls.

It is even more unbelievable that they continue to ignore this. Perhaps everyone with an iphone should start emailing every computer magazine and writer, and newspapers complaining about this. The inability to answer calls is a far more serious problem than personal location data being stored!

I don't really care if anyone wants to wade through reams of data to find out where I was yesterday, but I do care if I cannot answer important calls.
