Using iPhone 4G with OLD iPod Dock

I pulled out my old iPod dock the one with the inferred remote on the front. So I could dock with the Bumper attached to my iPhone 4G and it fits perfectly. However when ever I dock it I get a message on the iPhone that this device is not compatible. But it works, charges and syncs.

Is still OK to use?

I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch that has been upgraded to iOS 4. My iPod Touch will no longer sync via the Apple Universal Dock. Also, my new iPhone 4 also will not sync via the Apple Universal Dock.

I am using my Apple universal dock with remote to charge my iP4 and it works just fine. I think the first time I got the not compatible message but it still charged no problem. Most of the time it only says it because he phone part of the iPhone will create static with he speakers. Atleast that is my experience

You are in serious trouble for calling it the iPhone 4G! Seems there are some folks on here getting very irritated with people calling it 4G. Not me! I could care less. I am warning folks about the 4G Police. Lol

I found the same thing happening with my 3gs. I have a ihome stereo and when I plugged my 3gs into it that message would come up but it still worked. Now with my iphone 4 that message does not come up. I wouldn't worry especially if, as you said, everything works. It is annoying but as long as everything works, then it should be ok.
