What can the internal FireWire connector in a G4 be used for?

After opening the case of my 400 MHz G4 Sawtooth to look at the hard drives, I noticed a FireWire connector inside the machine. What can that FireWire connector be used for?

Your G4 has two external Firewire "400" ports and one internal one. It's use - look at http://lowendmac.com/tech/internalfw.shtml

Hi-

I used a firewire cable like This connected to the motherboard port, to put a front mounted firewire port on my Sawtooth mod:
