Dec 25, 2010 8:27 PM in response to Ejack3by yeolgigu,I have the same problem. My iPad is brand new-I received it as a Christmas present.
I have the case made from Apple...I don't understand why I should take it out of the case just to have it stop it's glitches. C: I'll take it to a store soon-hopefully the problem won't occur again! -
Dec 26, 2010 12:29 PM in response to Ejack3by Hazlitt,What apps are you using when you get these "self typing"? Does it do it with all your apps? How are you holding your iPad? Is it the app you are using, have Auto-spelling? -
Dec 26, 2010 12:39 PM in response to Ejack3by Hazlitt,What is it typing??? Anything intelligible? Sounds like a good plot for a horror movie!
Go to SETTINGS > NETWORK > VPN and make sure it is turned off, in case someone is accessing your iPad. Or quickly turn on Airplane mode to turn off any 3G/wifi access.
As above, is this a problem with all apps, or just one? -
Jun 15, 2011 3:43 PM in response to Hazlittby Jason Williamson,My ipad does the same, but only when thethered to my macmini. If connected to a charger, it is fine, if not connected to anything it is fine. But connect it to my mac and then try to use it and it goes nutty. Random menu selections, i can even wave a finger over it and it seems to activate menus. Seems to be an electrical issue in my mind.

Aug 27, 2011 1:45 PM in response to Ejack3by MustangMom,I bought my iPad in December 2010 and it was a couple months ago when it started acting "possessed". Just as yours was, it was going to random websites and launching apps, some of which I don't even have. It was so annoying and strange to see my iPad basically with a mind of its own. And, I had no control over it.
Yesterday I made an appt. for an Apple Store about 25 minutes from here. Thankfully, my iPad was able to demonstrate to the guy what it had been doing with me, although not quite to the extreme I had experienced. But, it was enough to prove to him that there was, indeed, an issue with it. At first he had intended to do a Restore on premises and have me wait. But after talking to a Genius who knew more about the product and issue, he came back and told me they were just going to swap it out. I had already backed it up at home. So after erasing all my data, he had me open the new one and told me how to do a Backup Restore on my computer. He also said if it ended up with the same issues, to then do a Full Restore ( a software issue). BUT, it seems to be working fine just after the Backup Restore. So, it definitely was a hardware problem. From the sound of it here, I wasn't the only one. I plan to upgrade to the iPad 2 or maybe wait for the 3 when it comes out. I'll then give this one to my 19 year old daughter. But, in the meantime, I'm happy that they replaced it, no questions asked. I was very impressed with Apple's customer service.

Aug 27, 2011 1:47 PM in response to masoudipad2by MustangMom,I'm disappointed that this issue is happening with the iPad2, as well. I was hoping it was just a problem with the iPads. Hmmmm. I plan on getting the 2 or maybe the 3 when it comes out. Hopefully, they'll have this issue resolved before then.

Sep 11, 2011 9:11 AM in response to Ejack3by sheila-1,Has anyone come up with an answer for this yet - my almost new ipad2 is driving me mad with this problem, and I am a very long way from the nearest apple store - so taking it in to the store would be a real issue for me.
I've spoken to Apple on the phone, and they seem not to know that this is an issue.

Oct 14, 2011 9:24 AM in response to Ejack3by beauxp, having the same issue here. I had the same issue on a previous ipad 2. I swapped it out (because of another issue).
Sometimes my ipad 2 does these random things and sometimes mine is just not responsive.
Someone suggested the screen protector could be the culprit,. But mine does it with or without the screen protector. I have a Moshi screen protector and a iFrogz Summit case.
Earlier in this threat someone suggested flexing your ipad backwards. I wouldn't suggest this though. Thing is really thin and i would think easy to damage. The screen issue would be covered under warranty, the damage from flexing it, would not.

Oct 15, 2011 1:29 PM in response to beauxpby beauxp,To anyone with this issue.
What screen protector do you have on your iPad and what cover. Just trying to pinpoint the issue ?

Dec 23, 2011 11:16 AM in response to Ejack3by LisandroLT,My iPad 2 bought it last Friday after two days started to work exactly as you described.
I am really frustrated, it looks like someone is controlling it wireless.
I am thinking in a virus or something like that ¿did someone find a solution for this?
Regards,

Jan 3, 2012 8:27 PM in response to Ejack3by Alfie's Mom,We had this problem as well. We recorded the screen with my cell phone the various itunes account logon attempts, the random typing, safari, youtube launches and showed it to the tech. It had even randomly took pictures of my office etc. Apple swapped it out and gave me a new one. The whole thing was unsettling almost as if someone was hacking my ipad. I have been hacked before so I wasn't to happy. The new one is fine (so far).
