Probabably interference to the speaker from the cellular signal.

I don't know why people think it's strange, I've had two updates do this to my Iphone4
The first time I updated, they released another update that solved it.

The next update, caused the problem again, Apple said to me that they never heard of the issue HA!!
Then told me my warranty was up so they wouldn't replace my phone that their update caused to not work.

After some talking I got a new phone out of them and have never updated since.. Too many texts to lose that I need to keep and no way to DL them and save them..

Sorry, I haven't figured out to post directly, so I'm replying to the first post.  Anybody know why my battery on iphone4 is draining overnight while it is shut off?  I turn my phone off each night.  Last night it was at 45% when I turned it off.  This morning it was completely drained.  I,ve noticed the last few days it is loosing power rapidly.

    Thanks

Let's define "turned off". To turn off an iPhone you hold the top button for about 10 seconds. You will then see a message "Slide to power off". You do as instructed. You will see a spinning wheel for a few seconds, then the screen will go black. This is the ONLY time the phone is actually turned off. If your battery drains in this state you have a bad battery.

If by OFF you mean you just pressed and released the top button that is not "off", that is "standby", and there are all sorts of things that are still running that can use power.

My iphone4  battery had an 80% drainage in 4 hours even when it was not used (but not completely turned off).  yesterday I deleted my google account (mail and calendar).  The drainage stopped immediately.  In 24 hours, it only drained  2% (with light use for calls and texting).

Hi, I've had all the problems as all of you describe: battery draining fast (5 hours), temperatures really high, in some cases the iPhone shouted down, and the camera several times showed some strange lines. I changed the battery by a new one but the problem was still occurring. One day I charged the iPhone with the car charger and the iPhone fixes itself. I think the problem was that the iPhone charger wasn't giving it a stable light stream. I hope that this helps someone. Regards!

    Hi Laurance,

I have and Iphone 4 and has this problem some time ago, at that stage I found a post that suggested turning of various things in the settings like wifi and some other things I can't remember now.. Just yesterday I had a fully charged phone and started just doing a few sms and checking emails and it drained about 10% in half an hour... So I searched and found this thread, I did as you said, deleted my to email accounts, shut down the phone then rebooted, added the two accounts back and for the rest of the day it only dropped a few %. This morning when I checked it had only dropped 2% percent overnight.

Thanks for your suggestion, it looks like it's back to normal now.

I have my iphone 4 still on Version 6.1.3 I'm a little reluctant to update bacuse I dont like the interface of the newer look and have read on theads some negative comments about updating, but some apps now require Version 7 so at some stage I may need to update, what are your thoughts?

    Thanks again

    Hi,

I saw this thread and don't where the original fix came from? I had battery drain and overheating a year or more ago and just changing some settings fixed the issue. Yesterday my phone started to drain 10% in about 30 minutes so so searched and found this thread. I just deleted my 2 email accounts then shut down and rebooted, added the 2 accounts back and and the problem seens to be solved. Battery drained 2% overnight and has drained with some usage today about 4% in 4 hours which I think is fairly normal.

    Regards...

It's great because if you ever lose your phone or have some problems you have a copy of your precious messages we all love to keep. You get a trial version that lets you use it so many times, then you can increase it sharing on Facebook, and or purchase if you want too.

    Cheers

PS. Yes I agree with your Icloud back up comments and more control. I don't understand why we can't back up sms messgaes? Does anyone no why? Is it something that's not possible?  For me they are most important along with contacts.

PPS. Sorry this has appeared twice, I went to edit to correct spelling mistakes and add an extra comment but lost internet connection. Then Tried again and could not delete the original post..

my battery was lasting Half of a day with basically no use. what fixed mine was taking the toothbrush to the charger port and it was all that was needed not all the 25 other options it also took care of my volume bar not showing up.
