xvid on quicktime for windows

Has anyone figured out how to use xvid on quicktime for windows? I'm running windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit.

It seems crazy that it wont work as almost all downloaded films use the xvid codec.

I'd love to be able to get some stuff on my ipod, and quicktimes/itunes seem the best way

vaio, Windows 7

Good question ... the xvid people say they are working on their QuickTime integration:

+*I work on Windows and want to use Xvid in Quicktime – is there a plugin available?*+
+There’s a Xvid quicktime plugin available but it’s been created for Mac and is not well maintained at the moment. We’re currently working on improved Quicktime support, which will become part of the Xvid core code base.+

... but I'm afraid it's a bit of a "Watch this space" situation still for xvid. They do have a Windows codec available on their site, but I think that's the one best suited to WMP.

Im having this problem everytime.
CAn you help?

I try to upgrade both itunes and quicktime!
They both download but then i get a %appdata% alert in the middle of the installation.

It says that: 'Could not access network location %APPDATA%\.'
I press 'retry' but the same alert pops back up.
This happens over and over again!

Im getting very frustrated..I've tried uninstalling and re-installing everything in order.
In the end i just put cancel and neither of them get installed.

I tried 'downloading only' and installing manually but it just happens once again.

Please I NEED HELP!

Anything to do?

I tried what you have advised.

Still no luck.
I still get the same message.
Saying: 'Could not access network location %APPDATA%\'

The funny thing is that it only happens when i try downloading Itunes 9.
When i try downloading Quicktime 7.66.71.0
It downloads and installs perfectly.
The only problem is downloading Itunes 9 with Quicktime.

Cant i just download Itunes without Quicktime?

I am so so sorry for all these questions..but to be honest im getting kinda frustrated.
I havent been able to use my ipod 4g with the new features because i need itunes 9 for almost 2 and a half weeks.
