Iphone 4 return Policy?

OK I am not here to debate if the Iphone 4 is losing bars. For me it is, it might not for you. I am sorry I cannot use this phone at home without losing connection. I am willing to wait for a software fix but I need to know the return policy, with the AT&T contract and the Apple hardware? I got the phone from Apple but will they reset my two year contract I had to sign with AT&T? Would you go to the Apple store or the AT&T store? If there is another post on this matter please point me to it, yes I did search. Thanks

Ooo, I hope it doesn't end up being a logistical nightmare. I wanted to know what my options are as well if I ended up returning the phone and how they would be able to reset my upgrade eligibility. I did a search and over on macrumors forum someone had just purchased their new phone on launch day and returned it the next day on friday. He said he spoke with someone with AT&T about reseting the upgrade eligibility and AT&T had said once they confirm that you have returned the phone to Apple it will reset your upgrade eligibility. He said you could also walk into any AT&T store and just show them the return receipt and they would reset it. I would think from the time you returned it to Apple, it would take maybe 48 hrs for the whole process to reset in their systems.

Hope this helped.

The return policy is --14 days-- from date of purchase, minus a --restocking fee(10%)--.

Apple's iPhone return policy is 30 days and the $175 early termination fee is avoided. Also the restocking fee only applies for opened packages.

iPhone Return Policy

If you are not satisfied with your iPhone purchase, please visit online Order Status or call 1-800-676-2775 to request a return. The iPhone must be returned to our warehouse within 30 calendar days from shipment to avoid an $175 early termination fee. The iPhone must be returned in the original packaging, including any accessories, manuals, and documentation.

Apple will assess a 10% restocking fee on any opened iPhone. Shipping fees are not refundable.

Note: iPhones must be returned to the original point of purchase (e.g., Apple Online Store, Apple Retail Store, AT&T, Apple Authorized Reseller) with a proof of purchase (e.g., Shipment Notification, Invoice Receipt).

The ETF is actually $325 now.

Not "now"... if returned after 30 days of purchase, then yes it's $325 - $10 for each full month of your Service Commitment that you complete. After 30 days you have completed a full month of service so the ETF is actually $315 after 30 days and -$10 every month after that.

I stand corrected -- I had to activate mine in the store, but it's good to know there are other folks with different experiences.

Of course it would seem that if you bought the discounted version, even after returning it your upgrade counter gets reset, precluding any more discounted phones for a couple of years, so the restocking fee is the least of your problems....
