Jul 31, 2010 7:56 AM in response to osmanno1by GizaDog,I got this Temperature WARNING yesterday (July 30, 2010) on my new iPhone 4 as well. I took it to the Apple store to have them run a diagnostic on it and the test stated that the temperature got up to over *650 Degrees Fahrenheit* (seen this with my own eyes). I really don't see how this is possible but it happened. They were kind enough to replace my phone after seeing that.
It was a good thing that I was able to do a screen shot of the message to show the Apple techs. Otherwise it would have been hard to explain the problem. -
Jul 31, 2010 8:25 AM in response to GizaDogby YvilKittyInSpace,I had this happen on July 30 as well. I simply turned the phone off and then back on and all was well again. -
Aug 3, 2010 1:23 AM in response to osmanno1by flowynn,I received the temperature warning message on my 2 days new iPhone 4 last night, which was a very chilly night in the coastal SF Bay Area. I saw the message as soon as I pulled the phone out of my pocket but it wasn't even warm to the touch. WiFi and location based services were all turned off and no background apps were running. Also getting intermittent poor BT headset sound quality including some crazy feedback and frequent disappearing unsent text msgs when leaving and returning to messaging app. Genius Bar, here I come. -
Aug 26, 2010 6:36 PM in response to osmanno1by DanWheat,Ive had my iphone 4 for about a month, and had the 2 software updates.
Today picked up the iPhone to answer a text message, and the over heating error appeared!
This is the first time it's ever happened to me!
*Is the error message still appearing for anyone else??*
should I be taking this into the Apple Store to be Replaced / Repaired?....any suggestions welcome.
Thanks all. -
Aug 27, 2010 4:41 PM in response to DanWheatby kimistry6,I have had my iphone4 since the first day it was available and everything has been great. Tonight I got a phone call and my phone is sitting on the countertop like everynight and I just got the temperature overheating message. I have never seen this before. Right now it is 69 degrees in the house and the iphone feels cool to the touch. I received a call about 5 minutes after the warning.
I am at a loss. I keep this phone in my pocket all day and now is when I get this error. I will watch it for now but if it happens again then I will take it to the apple store. -
Sep 23, 2010 10:34 PM in response to osmanno1by E95,I got the warning today. i saw this discussion board and immediately took it into the apple store for a genius to make a diagnostic. they saw that my iphone got to 128 degrease celsius and immediately replaced it with a brand new unit. -

Nov 8, 2010 2:50 PM in response to brucegnby Michael Furino,First time this happened to me. My phone rang, and then it gave me the temperature warning. Rebooted and came back to norma. Hope this doesn't happen again. Back it will go for sure. Been really enjoying this device so far. -
Nov 12, 2010 3:44 PM in response to osmanno1by fotomoto,Just happened to me... my phone was sitting beside me, I received a call, and it rang once, then went to the Temperature warning screen. The phone was cool to the touch, and wasn't running any background apps or anything (other than possibly email). I reset the phone, and it is working fine...for now.
This is obviously a bug, or a bad sensor. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. -
Nov 12, 2010 3:58 PM in response to fotomotoby Lukeruls,Happened to me about 3 months ago. Phone was sitting next to me on the couch, and suddenly lit up with a temperature warning. I rebooted the phone, and it has not happened since. -
Dec 14, 2010 12:21 PM in response to Lukerulsby richardc1983,Ive had the same issue tonight, the phone was on my cold glass coffee table in my cool 20C living room and when I went to make a call it came up with the warning.
It only lasted about 10seconds or so and then it worked again but highly annoying as someone had tried to call me as well and couldnt get through as it disables everything. -
Dec 24, 2010 3:45 AM in response to richardc1983by James Dolley,I had the same issue in November. Was in a mates house, and all of a sudden I took the phone out of my pocket and the warning was there. It wasn't hot either, just found it very strange. Can't say it was particularly warm either, maybe 21-22 celcius -

Apr 28, 2011 7:56 AM in response to osmanno1by waggonner,I just purchased my iPhone 4 on Saturday April 23 and on April 27 I got the Temperature warning. Phone was not hot, I had just charged it for the day. I tried rebooting, as of this am it still shows the same warning. No help to resolve this problem seems to be working. Guess I will have to make a long trip to the Apple store for technical assistance. Hope I don't loose any important data that I have on the phone.

You won't if you backup before taking it in to Apple.
