Gorilla Glass on iPhone 4

Hi everyone!
I have the iPhone 4 with an ifrogs alum case, and a ZAGG invisible shield (military spec) protection for the Gorilla glass. This glass protector is good for protection but no feel. The screen feels "rubbery" and when iPhone is off has an orange peel like "haze", similar to a painted surface of a car, only clear.

I want the feel and graphic quality of the glass back. However I also work in a very hot shop and it resided in my pants front pocket facing my thigh. Will sweat (salts) break down Gorilla glass (etching)?
Should I keep the protection on the glass? The case is staying that makes sense due to the rear glass being standard temper.

I really want the phone in the case and the feel of the Gorilla glass and sharpness of the display.

Can I take the "rubbery" shield off?!

Thoughts?...

I can understand that you want to protect your investment, but isn't a bumper enough? You can't have your cake and eat it, too. It sounds like you are unhappy with the feel of your device so isn't that taking away from the enjoyment of it? The glass is very strong and scratch resistant on it's own.

I have a bumper and the Zagg screen protector on the front and back. I do agree the Zagg is a bit rubbery, but I'm not convinced that this glass is as scratch resistant as Apple reports. I'll keep my screen protector on until they come out with more info about the glass. If it is confirmed the glass is truly scratch resistant, I'll take my screen protector off.

I am with you Jeff! I work as an electrician so I can work in a pretty industrial environment to the office so I like the option of protecting it. I was keeping an eye open here on the forum to see how the glass holds up. In the first day I didn't have a case I put a very small scratch on the back of it but you have to shine it in the sun just right to see it. Plus the back is black so it stands out more when you shine it in the sun. Can't see it by just looking at the phone. I have a little OCD too so that doesn't help. ; )

I'd want a case in your situation. First time you walk into something at pocket height you will have some broken glass.

I am removing the ZAGG and using a waterproof pouch out in the hot-shop.

I have had my 3gs phone for a year now and I am constantly tossing it in my pocket or in the truck with no protection on it what so ever. And it still looks great. I am a water well driller so I am not easy on phones. If they made any improvement on the new iphone then it will prob hold up just as good. Keep them NAKED those iphone's were meant to be shown off not covered up!

I hate Zagg shields, due to the "stickiness" of the material. Get a glossy or anti-glare screen protector. The anti-glare is best, and has no "stickiness", while the glossy will have a slight stickiness to it, if your fingers are damp.
