iPod not turning on.

I tried using my iPod touch today and it not turning on. I tried holding down the button (one w/ the square, don't know it's name), and it's not doing anything. I then decided to plug it into the computer USB cable, yet it is still unresponsive. Since I've had some problems with the cable in the past w/ the ipod not showing up in itunes I tried using my brothers charger. When I plugged it in, still no response. Anyone have any solutions? Or do you think that my iPod is broken? Can I bring it into the Apple store to get it fixed?

When you’re not using iPod touch you can lock it.
When iPod touch is locked, nothing happens if you touch the screen. You can still listen to music and adjust the volume, and use the center button on your iPod touch headset (or the equivalent button on your Bluetooth headset) to play or pause a song.
By default, if you don’t touch the screen for a minute, iPod touch locks automatically.
