Geotagging is very dangerous

I'm sure a lot of people think geotagging is great but I don't. I believe it to be a very serious security risk if when I send someone a photo they can also tell where it was taken. That would be bad for your kids or even for yourself. I'm surprised we don't get an option saying something like "iPhoto wants to use your current location?" I'd say no given the choice. It's very cool we have the technology to do it but do we really need it? I don't think so and you can call me a Luddite if you like. Under location services my Camera is set to off but I still have places in my photo library showing me (approximately) where I took my photos. It's surprising inaccurate but there are also several photos that are accurate to within a few feet. So it seems that geotagging is going to happen whether I like it or not. I'm not a parent but if I were this would be a reason I wouldn't buy an iPhone for my child. I hope I'm wrong and the geotag is not sent with the photo via email or text. Am I the only one who thinks this way?

Camera was already set to off for location services and yet it shows locations for all my photos (though not very accurate, off by hundreds of miles in some cases or just a few feet). And what's interesting is that my iPhone has always been storing a geotag. It's showing locations for photos I took with my original iPhone nearly two years ago (quite accurate location). I used a backup to transfer all my photos and contacts to my new 3GS so evidently the geotag is part of the file. The question is does geotagging get sent with a photo to another person? Can I save a pic from someone else and see where it was taken? I'm assuming so but I'm going to test it tomorrow.
