accidentally trashed a dock icon

I accidentally trashed the iPod icon that was in the home page dock, at the bottom of the home screen. Anyone know how to get it back? THANKS!

Check your folders and additional home screens. It is quite possible you have over-looked the icon. If it is not among your home screens or folders, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout. Also, if you have iOS4 on a compatible device, can you access your iPod controls/icon by double-tapping the home button to bring up the multitasking bar and scrolling left? If it does not re-appear, then try a restore.

My child deleted my ipod and safari app icons from the dock on my iphone 4. I can still access them from the search... but they are not present on any other screens to be able to move them back to the dock. The apps are also not visible from within the iTunes app view to place back on the dock.

Restoring from the last backup of the iphone didn't help. Resetting the home screen layout brings the ipod and safari icons back to the dock... but then removes all my application groups and alphabetically sorts all apps (which would take an hour to try to get back into groups).

I then applied my previously saved layout (groups of apps) from within iTunes and it removed the iPod and Safari apps again from the dock. Does anyone know how to get the ipod and safari icons back without losing all the groupings and placement of your other apps?

Apple needs to work this out so that the built in app icons can't be deleted from the screen... or at least are retrievable from somewhere.

They did.
1) You canNOT delete the predefined apps.
2) In the restrictions, you can disable the deletion of ALL apps, third party.

People who buy iPhones need to learn how to actually use their phone, and LOOK FOR the settings that they complain that Apple needs to implement, before complaining.

You can't delete them, such as the posts above.

How many pages do you have? If you have 11 pages, it's possible it got pushed into the invisible world, 12 pages and beyond, and you could retrieve it in iTunes.

I know that to relocate Safari, you can go into the Settings > General > Restrictions, then disable Safari, then re-enable it, and it should show up on the next page with a free space, 2nd page and above.

As for the iPod, it can't be deleted... :-|
It's there...somewhere...
