NVIDIA 6600LE problem on Power Mac G5 Dual 2GHz

Hi,

I'm after advice on replacing a faulty NVIDIA 6600LE with another brand card.

I have a late 2005 Power Mac G5 Dual 2GHz that came with the NVIDIA 660LE PCIe graphics card. I have suddenly lost video on the computer. I have ascertained that the problem is with the card not the montior. The problem occurred hours after installing OX10.5, without any updates.

The cost of a new card is almost as much as buying another G5, so I have decided that I might buy a cheap alternative on ebay. According to Apple I can also install an NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT on this machine. Could someone tell me if either of the following cards, or any other known brand, can be used on a G5.

(1) NVIDIA GeForce 6600LE 256MB Graphic card PCI Express NW with Acer chipset.

(2) I have purchased an XFX GF 7800GT 256MB plus the power cable. It was so cheap that I give it a try. But it does not work. I imagine it is due to the flash. Has anyone re-flashed this card to make it run on a G5?

Thanks for your help.

regards,
Eddie
