Parallels 4 and Windows 7

When start Parallels and W7, it seems awfully slow to load.
What is the ideal memory size I should allocate to the Virtual Machine memory?
I am referring to Virtual Machine, Configure, Hardware, Memory.
Right now it is 512MB.

mac book pro intel core duo, Mac OS X (10.4.6), 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM 1.83 Ghz

According to Microsoft Windows 7 needs:
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

Um. Parallels 4?? You DO know Parallels is at 5.0 right?

I WOULD spring for the upgrade - it may have better Windows 7 compatibility.
