iPhone 4 video resolution issue on iMovie for Mac

I recorded video for the 1st time last week on my new iPhone 4. When I downloaded it onto my laptop into iPhoto then uploaded it into iMovie....the video came out too big and distorted. Why is that? How do I fix the problem?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

I shot 3 videos on my iPhone 4. I simply want to edit them together in iMovie for iPhone. After I exported them (in 720P) it showed up in the camera roll as a small square picture surrounded by lots of black space.

In fact, after transferring them to my computer I noticed comparing to the original that top and bottom of video was cut off!

Anybody have a clue why that is happening?

Doesn't seem to matter which resolution export I pick. They are all reduced in size and cut off.

Thanks,
Todd
