I've done some research and havent been able to find a way to do this so far but i'd love to be able to have all my books in one place and i prefer the design of the ibooks app. Is it possible to somehow move books from the kindle app to ibooks app?

No, it is not possible at this time. You will need to use the appropriate reader (Kindle for books from Amazon, iBooks for books from iTunes, etc).
You would need to strip the DRM from the Kindle books and then convert them to epub in order to use iBooks.
OK cheers. If anyone wanted to chip in with a how-to that would be great otherwise i'll have a google search and try and work it out. Exciting to know it's possible! Thanks
I dont' believe it will be possible any time soon if ever. Apple has chosen epub book format for their bookstore (same as the Nook and Sony Reader). Amazon uses their own proprietary book format, and no other reader that I know if supports it. Unless someone blinks - I don't think the two will ever be compatible.
Mark, Does that mean we could purchase books from Barnes & Noble and read them on our iPad? I am disappointed at the Apple book pricing. I think they are making a mistake. Seems to me there was a promise the iBooks would max out at $9.99.

No, Apple never made such a promise. Amazon, when they released the Kindle, said that most New York Times bestsellers would be $9.99 for the device.
Moving books from kindle app to ibook app - possible?
