Lifespan of Ipod Nano 4th gen ?

Hi.
I have two ipod nano, 4th gen, about 18 months now. both have experienced a series of minor problems, requiring resets etc along the now.
Now one is completely dead, will not start. I brought it to the Apple Store Expert who says it is dead, not repairable.

So my question is...
How long are they expected to last, under normal usage conditions ?

Obviously excessive use, water exposure etc doesn't count.

Cheers,
Colin.

Hello colinregan,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!

It really depends on what you define as normal usage condition. There really isn't an exact number, but instead a range of values that could answer this question. Personally, my iPods have lasted anywhere from 2 - 5 years, sometimes more.

Maybe check out this article for more information on the subject.

It seems that the Nano, especially the 4th generation, does have a host of problems that can dramatically reduce its lifespan.

I also have 2 8GB 4th gen Nanos, and both of them have had their share of problems, with one of them being completely unresponsive and most likely bricked.

The sad part is, Apple refuses to honor its 1-year warranty, despite reports of these being replaced for some people because "We are aware of this problem.".

Sigh.

Good luck to you, and anyone else who buys a Nano.
