AMDS - not installing - another one

Hi,

I seem to have the same problem as a lot of other people on this forum. Basicly, when I install iTunes, the software Mobile Device Software is not installing and 'rolls back' during the installation process. I have checked the install / uninstall and it does not show up. The files are mission under C:/Progamme Files/Common Files/Apple which I believe is where they should be located.

This is extremely annoying as my iPhone 4G arrived yesterday and I cannot use it because it wont activate.

Please help if you can?!

I'm the author of the Random Windows Tips post...I'm glad to see it helped you solve the problem!

This seems to be a very common problem with Windows 7, iTunes 9 and iPhone. The issue has been around since at least December (which is when I found the "workaround" solution and posted about it), probably earlier. I'm hoping at some point Apple will acknowledge and solve the issue.

Until then, make sure and let anyone else who is having this problem know about the solution.

Hi Guys

Is there an similar AMDS install procedure for vista?

My sad story began when itunes tried to update a week ago.
After the upgrade itunes wouldn't synch with ipodtouch or
iphone and returned the message about itunes requiring a
newer version of AMDS. I since discovered that AMDS wasn't
uninstalling.
After a clean-up with ccleaner, I got rid of that AMDS version
(together with the other Apple junk)
Then installing itunes again, from scratch, the blasted AMDS
driver won't install. It tries to install, fails, rolls back, then
mutters something about the installer encountering problems. Then
cheerfully suggests that I retry these operations at a later
time (as if I enjoy doing this).
Any ideas will be much appreciated.
