WiFi Shuts Off When on Standby?

So I just recently hooked up my iPhone 4 to my home WiFi but every time I lock my phone (standby) the wifi will shut off after several seconds. This is severely annoying since I have to re-enter my home wifi password every time this happens.

Is there a fix for this?

No. By design, when the iphone goes into sleep mode, WiFi is turned off to save battery.

Isn't WiFI supposed to turn back on once you wake your phone again though?

No. Sorry I didn't state that in the first post. I'll turn on WiFi (in which I must enter my WiFi password) then I will put my phone on standby, wait a few seconds, and my WiFi will turn off and become 3G. Once I slide to unlock however, my phone does not return to WiFi and I must manually do it.

Is your SSID hidden? If so, how did you set up your WiFi initially?

No it is not hidden. I can select the network and enter the password. Everything looks completley normal.

IP, Subnet Mask, Router, and DNS are all listed. Nothing seems to be missing.

EDIT: It is hidden, I got confused for a minute.

Do this:

First delete your present network settings on your phone.
Next, make the SSID visible on your router.
Next, on your phone, set up your network connection using "other", put everything in manually under "other". This step is VERY IMPORTANT.
Connect.
Once connected, turn the SSID off on your router.
Your phone "should" connect automatically after this.

The important point is to manually enter everything in "other".
