Bootcamp - is there a performance hit?

I'm sure the answer to this has already been posted, but all I want is a quick answer.

*How much of a performance hit is there when running an XP app in Bootcamp compared to running the identical Mac version?*

I ask because I'm buying a Mac, and wondering if I really need to buy fresh software. I'm particularly interested in CS4 Premiere and After Effects.

Cheers!

I should imagine there is little difference between running Windows via Bootcamp and a similarly spec'd PC. Bootcamp allows Windows to run natively on your Intel Mac thus as far as Windows is concerned it's just another "IBM Compatible" machine. I've certainly had no issues using Vista 64bit for Gaming.

As for a direct comparison between CS4/5 in OSX vs Windows, Apple Macs have always been the the system of choice in the Creative and Print Industry. Being a Creative, I'm Biased though 😉.

I wouldn't go and spend another grand just to buy an OSX version of CS4 etc, it'll be happy as larry in bootcamp. Adobe may swap your licence for an OSX one for a fee, you'd need to contact their sales team. If you did make the jump to OSX you'd never look back 😉
