Sharp edges on MacBook Pro

What chances are there of Apple changing it's sharp edge design on future Mac Book Pros? I've just returned a 13" MacBook Pro because the front edges are so sharp they left red marks on the the sides of my hands hurt after 2 hours of typing with the laptop on my lap. I know it's probably not the case if on table, but I often need to have my laptop in lap! (Which is what it's designed to do) - as I travel a lot with it. I'm a devoted Mac user - just love them - and I'm hugely disappointed by this but i't just not comfortable. I've just got a refund and will carry on with my original 1st Generation MacBook Pro (which is a great machine (lacking the specs of course) and very comfortable to use - until Mac come out with a kinder-on-the-wrists version. My partner's just got one and has the same issue and will return it. We're just hoping Mac will alter this at some point with upcoming models.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!

There have been numerous complaints about the sharp edges, and the best thing to do is to give feedback to Apple as sig suggests.

There is something known as a computer glove that might help should you need a new Mac before Apple gets around to changing the design.

Office Depot carries these if you want to look at one in person.

Good luck!

I understand that we all have different sized hands/wrists/arms and we place them differently on our laptops, but I seriously can't stand those marks on my wrists that look like I'm cutting myself. Not only that, it kind of hurts after awhile. Call me a pansy or whatever for complaining, but I just received my macbook pro and within the first hour of using it, I cut my knee on the sharp edge and was bleeding! Whether you think I'm a clutz or not, if I just lightly sit on my bed (where my laptop is) and my knee comes in contact with the edge, I shouldn't be bleeding!

Hi smei,

Out of curiosity, did you visit an Apple Store (there are several in SF area) and try out the machine before you purchased it? While you shouldn't be bleeding from using a machine, Apple also doesn't recommend that you use the machine on your lap. Apple calls them "portable computers" and not "laptops" for a reason.

If you're not satisfied with the machine or feel physically threatened by it, you're welcome to return the product to the place where it was purchased.
