Apple Loops won't accept key changes!!!

i think this has been talked about here before - but i'm still not too clear on how to fix the problem...

in the LOOPS window i can change the key of a bass line - but when i add it to a track - it goes back to the Apple default key. what gives?

my other question is - can i use more than one key, for the same loop within the same song?

hope you get what i'm getting t here...?

thanks

thank you - but it seems like half the solution.

"option" gives the 'option' of changing the songs key - but not individual loops...

here's what i want to do - i have a song in the key of "C". i have a guitar loop from the LOOPS library that i've copied...

what i want is (with the same EQ, on the same track) for every other one of those guitar loops to be in the key of "F" - but i want the song to stay in "C"...

HOW do i change the individual KEY for multiple loops in the same recording???

thanks so much for the help already...

HI:
I learned this when dealing with apple loop samples recently...see if this makes sense...
In logic if you open the loop and there is no available key change on the loop...then it is a one shot....meaning programmed as a 1 hit...meant to be time stretched in tempo but not transposed...simple solution...
open apple loops utility located under the audio menu in logic...save as new name...save as loop and set parameters to anything else you want...be sure to add that sample back to the library...but close logic first and open again...the one shot is now a true loop that will now transpose...
Hope this helps...

okay - i sort of get that. thanks...

BUT, i tried it, and it didn't really work for me. i was able to "save as" but was unable to find the new loop in the library. if i look for it in a general drive search - its there, but when i'm in LOGIC and looking for it in the loops list - i cant find it...

i cant believe this is so hard...

in the LOOPS library - you can change the key as you listen to loops - it works fine, so why cant you drag and drop that loop into logic with the in the new key?

okay - maybe i'm really slow - but can you please give it to me in a sort of "step by step guide for morons" thanks...

i've only had LOGIC for three days now.

Just transpose the loop using the Transpose option in the top left hand parameter box. Just click on the number to the right of the word and adjust. It goes in semi-tones. You can't do this to a loop copy, so if you want the same part to play in different keys, you'll need to drag another instance of the loop in from the loop browser.

It tells you this in the manual as well. At least read the Getting Started book...unless you really enjoy taking three days to do something that should take three seconds.

Good luck!
