Can I reset the default volume on my Bose Sounddock?

I bought a Bose sounddock at the Apple store. Boy, do I love it! Excellent sound, even when it's loud. And I like that it charges my iPod at the same time. Here's what I don't like. Anytime the power to it goes off (I unplug it and move it to the kitchen, or the power in my home cuts out) when it starts back up the volume goes REALLY LOUD. I live in India, and the power quits three or four times a day. Each time, I have to grab the remote and rush over to the soundock so that when the power comes back on I can turn the volume down.
I imagine there's some easy "hold down this button while turning it on and press this other button twice" but there's nothing like that in the manual. Bose's website doesn't have any discussion forum, knowledge base, or help center. I called the Bose corporate office in New Delhi, but they don't sell them here, so no one in Delhi knows what I'm talking about. Any help from other iPod users would be most appreciated!
Thanks,
Warren
