iPhone 4 backup not in list when I try to Restore

I got an iPhone 4 on day one and have been constantly syncing it with iTunes since I got it. It has a lot of important info on it since I transferred info from my previous 3GS over to it.

Now I am having to restore my iPhone to troubleshoot an issue (the proximity sensor) and when I try to restore to a backup, my iPhone 4 backup is not listed, even though I made sure as an extra precaution to right-click on the iPhone in my iTunes sidebar and manually back up (and it looked like it completed succesfully). The most recent backup listed is the last backup I did with my iPhone 3GS a week ago.

Any ideas on how to get my iPhone 4 backup to show up in the list so I can restore to that backup? Thanks, using a Macbook with the most recent version of iTunes.

I have nearly the same problem. I have no iphone 4, but an older 2G, with 3.1.3 but a lot of my backups are not listed!

My 2G works tills last tuesday as it was broken. I decided to get a new own.

In the moment as i connect it to my mac itunes suggested to restore an backup. The problem ist that the latest back was from June 21th. Tuesday was July 6th. My iphone is connected twice a day to my macbook. It everytimes syncronise and backup my iphone. Where are all the missing backup. The logic of the copies it keeps on my HD is not know. What should I do with a backup from july 5th 2009 😟

I have listed the following backup availible
Gerard's iPhone
Gerard's iPhone - 05.07.2009 05:52
Gerard's iPhone - 08.02.2010 21:13
Gerard's iPhone - 21.06.2010 12:41
Gerard's iPhone - 21.06.2010 20:02

I suggest this is an iTunes problem and not a problem of my iPhone, or I am wrong? Why has the first listed no Date-Stamp?

Any hints
Gérard

Hi,

Have you found an answer on how to put a backup back onto your iphone? I'm having the same problem. I know there is a backup on my computer for the restore I want to do. It just isn't in my drop down menu on itunes once I click "restore from backup". I would like to know if there is a manual way to tell itunes which folder you want to restore the iphone with. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
