Missing graphics when printing to Ricoh C4500

Can someone help please, I am printing form mac with OSX 10.6 and printing to a network printer.
The printer is a RICOH C4500 and I'm using the Ghost/pxlcolour MPC4500 drivers, but even though I can print in both colour & B&W it misses out on a lot of the graphics. For instance on a PDF with a mixture of types of graphics it only prints out some of the page is this normal.
I have also tried the C5000 but is has the same problem.

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.

The loss of data on the page does not sound normal. What you have to determine is whether it is driver related or the application. As a test, I suggest you create another print queue to the Ricoh using the Generic PCL Laser Printer in the Print Using menu. While this driver only gives you B&W output, it is one way to check if the same symptom occurs. Note also that with this Generic PCL driver, the resolution is set to 300dpi. So if you open the print dialog and select the Printer Features menu before you print, you can increase the resolution to 600dpi.

With regards to the graphics, I have seen problems with some drivers when the document contains transparent layers. The resulting print only shows the upper most layer. In some cases, settings within the driver have been successful in obtaining the correct prints. For the drivers that have no settings to adjust, the conversion to PDF and subsequent printing from Preview rather than Acrobat has resolved the issue. Or if you use Acrobat for PDFs, you can open the Advanced tab within the Acrobat print dialog and select to 'Print as image'.

With a PDF open in Acrobat Reader select to print. With the print dialog displayed in expanded view (you may have to click the triangle next to the printer name to see the expanded dialog) you should see the button Advanced. Click this and in the next pane that appears, at the top will be the setting 'Print as Image' and next to it a drop menu showing the supported resolutions.
