Problems adding songs to Slideshow

For some reason when I try to add music to my slideshows (I have iLife) It only shows the folder name (and then if I select it-it plays all the songs in the folder in order).Why can't I select a particular song?
Even the blank line that is there to search for a song does not work.
Do I have a glitch?
