Iphone 4 WIFI connection problems with AirPort Extreme Base Station.

Iphone 4 WIFI connection problems with AirPort Extreme Base Station. The Wifi will work to connect to the internet but at slow speeds. It will take 1/2 hour to download simple progams in the app store. It won't even play utube video's. The router works fine with my Macbook pro and my Iphone 3g. This seems to be a Iphone 4 issue. I have reset the network settings a few times in the iphone4. I have also unpluged the Airport Extreme base station several times to reset it. The firmware is the latest version. I have heard that the Iphone 4 will not work on the 5GHz band and that you need to change your Airport Extreme to 2.4GHz band. I have changed every setting that I could think of in the Airport settings. The 3g connection works good. Please help.

Welcome to the club. Wifi is completely busted on this phone. My experience is the same as yours ... 3 minutes to load a web page, 4-1/2 minutes to retrieve mail and the list goes on. Tried resetting network settings, restoring as a new device, tweaking network settings ad nauseum. All other devices including my 3GS and iPad work perfectly. The same web page loads in about 4 seconds and the same mail is retrieved in about 8 seconds. I've finally gotten to the point where I've just turned wifi off completely and use my crappy 3G service because--and I can't believe I'm saying this--it's faster than wifi. And that's just sad.

I started having a similar problem just last night. After I updated O4 I was not longer able to get on my airport extreme network, nor with my iPod touch. However, my iMac recognized it just fine. I reset everything, even hard reset my airport extreme and changed the password and have had no luck getting it to join and just keep getting "incorrect password". Any solutions would be appreciated!

Thank goodness for this discussion board. I though I was going crazy. Yesterday BOTH iPhone 3GSs in the household stopped connecting to my Airport Extreme, except when they were within 6 feet of the base station and then they operate at extremely slow speeds. Both have recently been upgraded to iOS4 and seemed to work fine until yesterday. My Mac Mini (which is located on the other side of the apartment) and my MacBook connect just fine.

It seems strange to me that Apple won't acknowledge a problem with wifi when many users are complaining about it on the iphone 4. My wifi connection works after I reboot the my router, but after a while disappears and I can't reconnect without rebooting the router again. I have reset the network settings, but that doesn't work. I have no problem connecting wifi with my ipod 4.0.1 so how couldn't it be my iphone 4 that has the problem. It doesn't look like 4.0.2 is going to fix this problem. Come on Apple, this is a big problem for users, especially since Facetime
won't work without wifi.

If many of you are having the same problem please let Apple know in one of two ways.

The simple way is at:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Select Feedback Type: Bug Report
Fill out the form. Just takes a minute

If you are a developer, registered to be a developer, or at least understand the lingo, you can report the bug at
https://bugreport.apple.com/
Fill out the form. It is more complex, but a few have had an email contact asking for more information but a Core Duo chip is required to run the report to send to them.

If it is happening to enough people and we start telling Apple, they may look into it. Or it may be a non issue by the end of this week with the release of 4.1.
