Bumper vs. Speck CandyShell

I will be purchasing my first iPhone ever in the coming weeks and have narrowed down my case choices to these two. I'm not that rough on phones, but have heard of the iPhone 4 issues with overheating and was concerned a full case might contribute to that. On the other hand though, seeing pictures of these smashed iPhones online is rather disconcerting as well..

Any thoughts or forewarnings about either of these products would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time! 🙂

Never heard of an overheating problem with the iPhone 4. But I use the bumper and a slightly larger belt clip leather case made for an HTC phone. But cases preferences are individual. Given so many different cases are available suggests that there is no one right choice for everybody. If you are leaning toward something, get it and try it. Easy enough to return it if you don't like it. I've purchased and returned at least a half dozen cases during my iPhone history.

In short....bought the iPhone 4, put the bumper on it (it was all I could get at the time). Accidentally drooped the phone and the back shattered. Went to Genius Bar and Apple thankfully gave me new phone. Stopped by the AT&T store on the way home and picked up the Candyshell (local Apple store still has nothing but bumpers). The Candyshell seems to be a quality product.
