Syncing itunes with Iphone

Hi,
Im having alot of issues syncing my Iphone to the PC. Itunes takes ages just freezing up and often freezing up the entire computer.
After a while I get an error message
It has synced the calender and photos but not the applications and not the music.
After a while I get"The iPhone cannot be synced. The device timed out."
I press Ok on the error message and Itunes freezes up again. The phone still says Sync in Progress.

I run the diagnostic which came back saying all was fine. I've taken Itunes off the computer and re installed. Then I took all the apple application off and reinstalled. I have tried all my USB drivers. I have tried making sure nothing else was plugged into a USB drive. I have deleted backups and reset the sync history but that hasnt helped.

I am using the lates version of CA but no their firewall(I had issues at work with it blocking information I was trying to send.

Can ayone help?

To AaronCattle,
I too am having the same problem, after a while I get"The iPhone cannot be synced. The device timed out." My diagnostics report was also successful. I recently installed CA Security 2010. I requested a call back from Apple Support today at 12:30pmCT today. I too was just preparing to uninstall & re-install iTunes until I read your post! I have a QuickVoice app on my iPhone, with several Voice Recordings & was wandering if you do too? I tried disabling CA, then syncing & still NO success. Hope we can get this resolved! Have you resolved the issue yet?

I am using MobileMe too.

No, not resolved as yet. I have tried all four USB points. I have even selected do not automatically sync, in the preferences, which the system completely ignores and syncs anyway. If I leave it alone this first sync is says is fine, but nothing is ticked to sync so nothing really happens. If I try to select one f the tabs to change anything it freezes.
Just no I let this sync go through then I selcted Sync calendars under info and the system froze for about 10 minutes. Now it says it is syncing. After a while I got the error message sync wasnt successfull as it timed out but at the very top it say the iPhone sunc is complete Ok to disconnect.

I have no voice memo or such and arent using mobile me.

To AaronCattle:

I finally un-installed CA Security Software, then installed Webroot Internet Security Essentials (my son suggested it). The new Webroot security software found a VIRUS on my PC & quarantined it. The message "The iPhone cannot be synced. The device timed out." stopped for ME. Then I ran Uniblue Registry Cleaner, worked fine, then tried Uniblue Registry Defrag, then my PC froze up. So I contacted Uniblue and they said to run Check Disk (it noted an error - I don't have access to at the moment), but it finished, then started rebooting autmatically, but when it did Windows could not OPEN! Not it Normal, Last good configuation, safe mode... Nothing! So hauled my PC to my son, he ran a different check disk & got my PC working again! Thank goodness, I DID NOT WANT TO REDO MY ENTIRE SYSTEM! Whether THAT had ANYTHING to do with the problem, I have no idea! But I wanted to let you no, I did resolve the device timed out issue. I "THINK" uninstalling CA did it, but I'm not sure.

Now I have a NEW problem: I use QuickVoice recording app & their Windows app. I've been using them since 2008. You can record voice on your iPhone, then sync and backup your iPhone in iTunes, then open the QuickVoice Windows app & click import iPhone reordings .caf format, then you export them back to iTunes (you can then delete them from your iPhone because you will have a copy on your PC. But NOW I'm getting a QuickVoice msg that says: "The iPhone iTunes Sync status can not be determined. Please ensure that an (Tunes Phone Sync has completed successful/ before importing." But, iTunes says I synced successfully! and I right clicked my iPhone device name & backup, but still get the same message in Quickvoice. 😟

Good luck AarronCattle,
I am DEFINATELY NO EXPERT (I do accounting)(my son is better at PC configurations than I), but if you uninstall CA & get a different security software, I would advise to run a full (complete) antivus scan. I emailed Webroot later and they suggested I physically disconnect my PC from the internet completely, then reboot it and run at least 2 consecutive scans for viruses. I suggest doing that also. Somewhere along the line I also uninstalled & re-installed iTunes (a pain), but something I did resolved the time out issue. I try to reboot after any major steps (ie after uninstalling, after installing, after cleaning, etc.) I RARELY go to these forums, but lately it's been 1 problem after another!

I'm still dealing with QuickVoice problem, the program is great most of the time (I'm forgetful, if you're interested, just don't record over about an hour), I think QuickVoice by nFinity needs to update their software to work with Apple's new releases. I talked to Apple about IT today & posted this:
For those of you NEW to QuickVoice, some tips. I have been using QuickVoice since 2008, it is GREAT when it works (which is most of the time).
Because QuickVoice for Windows app CANNOT import LARGE recordings I try to remember to STOP, & start a new recording within 30-45minutes.
But if I forget & let 1 record too long, then------I figured a WORK-AROUND, but it is rathertime consuming: What I do to get a necessary LARGE
recording OFF my iPhone & onto PC is to use a speaker cord attached from iPhone to PC, open QuickTimePro start a "recording" on my PC, then click
PLAY on my iPhone (you might have to work with your master volume controls). After QUICKTIME finishes re-recording the iphone recording, stop
Quicktime, then use Quicktime to export it to iTunes. Lots of hassle, but it works for me in a pinch.
NOW, since about 6/30/10 I have been VERY upset because I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO IMPORT ANY iPHONE RECORDINGS! I think the problem
started after I installed iTunes 9.2 & OS4 for iPhone. I have about 20 recordings to get OFF iphone. I am ASSUMING it's because nFinity has not
updated it's QuickVoice to work with the new software. I don't know, but have emailed their support. "IF" THAT IS THE PROBLEM, I think QuickVoice
SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED THEIR CLIENTS BEFOREHAND, then I COULD have waited to install the new releases! An Apple rep told me if you are
NOT happy with an app maker's support to goto apple.com/feedback, then click on iTunes (towards the bottom) to file a complaint. Again, the app is
GREAT when it works, but the problems are EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING when it doesn't
I DO wish QuickVoice would do something about not being able to import LARGE recordings and show more support details on their website! I have
been importing & exporting 1 recording at a time for years now. I would think there is a way to do it in BATCHES. GOOD LUCK & WISH ME SOME TOO!

MoralsMatter:

I'm having the exact same problem with my QuickVoice Pro recording and the iphone 3G. I have always been able to sync my files using the QuickVoice desktop app (I have a macbook) but since upgrading to OS 4.0 on the iPhone I continue to get this warning: "The iPhone iTunes sync status can not be determined. Please ensure that an iTunes iPhone sync has completed successfully before importing."

I sync my iPhone just fine but QuickVoice does not seem to recognize this. Have you found any solutions? Are there any other ways to get files (I have a large 75mb file I need) off the iPhone.

Thanks.

To mlbooker,
Please read all of my last post to AaronCattle. I still can NOT get my QuickVoice to import my latest recordings since about 7/1/10. I purchase QuickTime"PRO" from apple. I purchased an audio cord to connect my iPhone to my PC, then I can PLAY my recording from my iphone & hear it on my PC speakers. So I open QuickTimePro and start a new recording while playing the recording from my iPhone (so I am re-recording into QuickTimePro), then I export THAT recording to iTunes. That is the only solution I have figured out. I have not have time to do that for my last 20 recordings yet. But, I "THINK" Quickvoice needs to update their software for the latest iTunes & iphone software update releases! I think the problem started after I updated to those. My work-around is a bit of a hassle and time consuming, but it works for me.

I emailed QuickVoice support - support@quick-voice.com ,but they have NOT responded with an answer! PS. Read this post http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2490496

I've been looking for a solution to export Quickvoice recordings larger than 5mb from my iPhone to laptop. I used the "Quickvoice Sync" desk app but it exports them into .caf files in my document folder and I haven't found an app that can convert them to mp3 or aiff files. Quicktime 10 and Quicktime 7 does not work. Help? Suggestions?

I'm getting the same error message about the sync not being verified, and then quickvoice won't open.

I downloaded the iPhone Explorer freeware, but ran into the following problems:

1. It only works with OS 10.5 or higher. So I installed it on my PC
2. There is no quickvoice folder listed under apps. When I open the Apps drop-down menu I get an error that says "due to bugs with iTunes itself, the subfolders in 'Apps' may be a little buggy. If you see a 'directory not found' error try reconnecting your device or reopening the program.

No luck getting my recordings off my phone yet . . .
Has anyone figured this out yet? Are we just waiting for quickvoice to release an update compatible with OS4?
What about downgrading to OS3?
