superscript/subscript off shortcuts

Is there anyway to turn subscript or superscript off without having to go through the Format>Text>Baseline>Default menu drill-down? It seems crazy that keyboard and toolbar shortcuts exist for turning them on but they don't toggle and there is no shortcut that I can find for returning to default text setting.

Help ! This is a huge hassle for a chemistry teacher who uses subscript and superscript routinely for single characters in chemical formulae.

thanks for that. It appears that everything is not working as it should. I was having trouble with the shortcut keys and the shortcut icons not working to toggle the subscript or superscript styles off.
This was after having bought the unlock code and entering it.

After reading your post I restarted pages and now the shortcut icons work to switch the styles on and off but only the subscript shortcut keys work. The superscript cmd cntrl+"" doesn't work at all. I have restarted my powerbook as well to see if that would sort it but it didn't.

Any ideas ?

+Menu > Edit > Special Characters > View > Code Tables > Unicode > 00002070 Superscripts and Subscripts > double click on the character you want to insert+

To add to your favorites:

+Characters window > Select the unicode glyph > click on little gear at bottom left of window > Add to favorites+

To use favorites:

+Characters window > View > Code Tables > Favorites > double click on glyph+

Hi peter

Of course, we may use unicode superscripts but, in many fonts some of them aren't embedded and they are grabbed from an other font.
In such case, the result is awful and using the ones created thru the Format menu give a better result.

Even if the result was correct, users are free to use the superscripts created thru the Format menu.
So, it seems logical to respond to the asked question.

If the user insert Unicode superscripts, it's clear that he will not have to use the Format menu (or a linked shortcut) to revert to standard character.

At this time, the true question is :
why, at least for one asker, the official shortcut is not working ?

Maybe it's what Tom pointed : if the shortcut is issued on a keyboard with no numerical pad, getting the character + requires that we press the shift key. At least it's the way French keyboard behave.

Luckily, on French keyboard we don't need to press the Shift key to get the = character.

As each key is able to issue at least two chars, each layout has pros and cons 😉

As I always bought a full keyboard with numerical keypad,I have no problem with digits or with : =, /, *, -, + keys.

In fact I have one short keyboard because when I received my iMac, I was surprised because the box contained the short Bluetooth keyboard and the full keyboard which I asked was delivered in an other box.

I presume the New Zealand keyboard is the same as the Australian keyboard which is actually the American keyboard.

Assuming that is what you are using then the keyboard shortcut is:

Subscript: +control command -+

Superscript: +control shift command =+ because the + is uppercase.

Both toggle on my Australian keyboard.

You are not using the British keyboard by any chance?
